eBay followed searches

There's a third part software called Prospector. I've never used the free version but with the paid version ( I have the $19.95 version) I can have up to 10,000 search calls a day.
There's lots of filters for blocking keywords, sellers, countries, fixed price vs auctions, price, etc. Every time you run the program it only pulls up the results since your last search. Highly recommended.

That looks great for Windows PCs. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar program to run natively on a Mac? I looked at GarageBuy, but it seemed a little too closely aligned with eBay, and required eBay authorisation. I don't need it to bid, just to search and report to me via email.

Don't know whether I've got this one out of sheer luck or this ebay-followed-searches-gone-mad thing really makes strange things happen. Anyway, this is what I got the other day: I was the only bidder and got it for $14.99

great find. Were you searching for something specific or merely happened to see the listing by chance?

The seller didn't bother to list it under any genre or style, just simply as 45 rpm. That dumps out nearly 300,000 listings in the US alone, and more than twice that much worldwide. If he had simply listed it under Rock the number of listings would have narrowed to less than 90,000 in the U.S., and he would have had a chance at getting some more bids.

It goes to show how ebay's listings are clogged with junk, relisted over and over. Screwing up the Style categories adds to the insult. Ebay's terrible for buyers to find what they're looking for without a specific search term. It's a real disservice to the sellers, who are losing out on money they could be making.

No, no, to my surprise it was a followed search, it had never returned any results in years until the first week of October. I placed a lot higher bid (sniper) and just went mad when I saw I was the winner.
