Emeralds On Vick

Why? Someone who could afford it bought a nearly unique item. Good for them. I wish I had the money to buy stuff like the Magnetics on Sable, Gwen Owens "Wanted and Needed", Eddie Parker on Awake, Jimmy Burns on Erica, the Mellow Souls, and other such $4K+ items. I don't think this is at the same level musically though. Sure beats the latest disco 'modern soul' flavor of the month though.

This is a very rare record. I got some insight on who/what. It's not unknown but hasn't gone very far outside of obsessive circles.

I checked it out and I think both sides are lousy.

Unlike garage, the soul sound needs to be done with some talented performers. This crew sounded like they woke up two days late for the recording session.

I'm a real sucker for crude Northern Soul...I think both sides are great. Although a different sax player would have brought them up a notch...

I find it pretty fascinating such 45's are still finding the light of day. It is truly amazing. You talk to artists and hear such stories like, "I hated the record, so I dumped all remaining copies in the Ohio River..." and only 1 or 2 survive. This Emeralds 45 nears the Frank Wilson on Soul status now! If there was a "G45" for Soul, that would certainly appear in the top of the list! Overall, I like seeing records reach huge amounts- It means record collecting is not dying, but growing- since there are more collectors, then there are records to go around, and it is very cool, for those who have the bucks to buy!
And what fun for the seller! I am such a 45 junkie :) this hobby is like living in a funhouse, forever.

I have this and have tried to sell it several times. No takers. I think my price was $30. Should be a little easier now. I'm with Mike though, if I thought it was good I would just keep it but I'm afraid I don't.

Legbarecords: 30.00? Try it with a sound clip on ebay now, while the heat is on. If it is super clean, you might get more then 7K I hope so for you! Cheers

I hadn't tried it on the bay. Only at record swaps. People are so focused on the records that they know that they skip right over anything over twenty dollars that doesn't show up on their collectors frenzy mobile phone app or whatever. Not super clean but a nice VG. Better than that one looked.

sure would like to get a scan of that;)

I don't have a cell phone but I appreciate your skepticism just the same. I also don't have a real computer, just a little dell laptop mini with zero storage and I have no idea how to post images. I'm sure this will not be a satisfactory answer for you but when I've sent label shots to MTM in the past he's had to wait for me to photocopy them and then mail them. I would offer to do that for you too in fact I did as much about three posts ago. But now I see that you have no real interest in a scan.I have no interest in a game of chicken.;););)

I've gone this long. I think I'll make it without them. I think I can move this without a printer or scanner anyway.
