Fine Records 45 Gallery

Hey Mark

Did the publishing paperwork come with the hall? If so you have probably already tried to match the publishing paperwork with the u
Known mystery tapes? Did he have a BMI company also....
There was quite a lot of paperwork of various kinds, though not specifically formal contracts or publishing. More union worksheets and that kind of thing. It's very useful in matching up some of the tapes, but not all of them.

Same here - all over magenta cast in Firefox 20 on a Mac but fine in Safari. I have colour management turned on in Firefox. This has only been happening with the recent Bosshoss label scans - it doesn't occur with anyone elses. Are you applying a particular profile or colour space to the scans that might be different to in the past Mark? i.e. previous to the Pink Finks labels.

The scans above come direct from my scanner, which is the Epson 10000 XL (an incredibly good scanner for the money by the way). Maybe there is a setting in the scanner software causing a problem. I will try a few things tonight and post the results, and maybe we can work out where the problem is coming from.

RE: Young Tyrants - I remember seeing original copies of the 45 being sold by Norton Records in an early issue of Kicks for 20 or 25 bucks, maybe #3 or #4? I think I also remember Greg Prevost saying in the same issue that the guy you have an interview with was agressively selling copies of the Young Tyrants 45 in the restroom during a Chesterfield Kings show!

Have a look at what colour profile it applies - it might be some generic Epson profile causing the problem. If that looks to be the case, try saving it as an sRGB profile. Or, to test what is happening, grab one of those recent scans, open in Photoshop and apply an sRGB profile under the Edit menu. Then you can upload that here and we'll see if it's still magenta.

The forum was offline most of the day yesterday. This was due to a technical problem at Fatcow which hosts the site. I'm glad to see it's back up now.
Anyway, I did not do the scan test that I had promised. But I will do it tonight, and hopefully discover what the "pink" problem is.
The Nick Corsetti acetate is definitely recorded at Fine. I have the master tapes stored somewhere, but I'm pretty sure the music would not be of interest to most of us here.

Nice scans!

Here's the nuttiest thing: if I save them either while on firefox (pink) or internet explorer (normal) the thumbnails show normal but at full size is pink... highly illogical Captain! :wtf:

But If I open in a graphics program it is normal and saving under a new name results in a normal image at least... whew!

Can't wait for more FINE studio scans, Mark. When I saw that house, it was pretty much a goner... you are a true historian to be able to do what you did!

I have some questions to the Young Tyrants - I Try! on IN Records.

The record is a mystery for me...

Is there only a press on the IN label? 500 copies? Or is there a press on Fine label(never seen it on Fine) too?
Does any reissues or bootleg exist?

I've seen 2 or 3 copies of this record in the last 9 or 10 month on ebay!
I own a copy of the IN label(a VG+ to NM) its not look like a reissue it has the typical 60s deep-vinyl-cut!
I compared it to your scan, but its the same no difference!

500 copies were pressed in Oct. 67 and released on the IN label. It was never released on Fine. There are no repros out there, so you have one of the original 500. Quantities of the record were found presumably by Vic Figlar in the 80s, and further copies came into the market via ex-band members. So, it's not really an extremely rare record.
