Forum Upgrade imminent

We're taking the plunge and giving G45Central a major upgrade over the next few days. This will possibly cause severe upheaval, and some unavoidable major changes in the appearance of the forum.

We haven't upgraded the forum software since its opening in 2011. It's necessary to change now, because the forum is no longer compatible with the latest Google Chrome or Firefox browsers. The downside is that the latest forum software is not compatible with the current all-black style that we developed for the forum. We can still have a black style, but it won't be the same as it is now.

It's really a major upgrade, and there will be a lot of new features, and maybe some current features will be lost. For example I think everyone's Trophy Points are going to be lost. The Media gallery will be lost as well, but overall there will be more gains than losses. I don't know if this is good or bad, but we have no choice anyway. It's change now or fade into oblivion.

I'll let everyone know when things are going to happen. Hope it's not a bumpy landing!

I will be interested to know if the new forum works with Google Chrome and Firefox. Otherwise I will be disappointed!

that would be Firefox Quantum... It works great...so far.

I typically use Firefox and Opera (which I believe is a 'cousin' to chrome) and it looks just fine.

I have a meeting with Aaron tomorrow to discuss what can be done to incorporate a new animated board header. I'm confident that the old one can be re-installed, at least. Or possibly something even better.

The only thing I'll miss is the marquee of vintage labels at the top. Otherwise a smooth transition! I'm still on Firefox 35. I see trophy points.
