G 500

As for the design, Mark and I have bantered about some ideas; I think we will probably go with each number linking to a full page, with label scan, sample sound clips and pertinent information.

Hell, why don't we form a trust or a company or whatever? The G45 Enterprises & Sons, buying all the rights and just upload top-notch quality files and save it for all humankind to hear?

Sample sound clips are like watching 30 second of strip-tease through a dirty window. You don't even get time to get an erection going!

I say: send money to MTM & BH, let them do all the work (as always, only this time they'll get paid) and let this music stay for fucking ever.

Perhaps Mark could make the G45 listing as public, but in order to view the link page, one must be a long-standing member of the country club, and, as such, must provide a password?
Make it a one time subscription fee, like Popsike. (This way some hard-working members who create this info could reep a reward from their hard work!) I also am pretty sick of prowlers who copy info, and everything is a "G45" including Turtles 45's, on ebay. The list is a historic document, as these 45's are possibly the very rarest 45's in the entire world, much rarer then many "Soul" "Doo-Wop" and "Rockabilly" 45's because those have all been well documented, by the collectors who were collecting these styles way back in the early 60's.
As for the initial critical opinion of the G45 list, that is a open pandora's box, as each person will have their own opinion as to what is their own self-righteous and egotistical idea's as to what to include. As for me, I don't care, as I just enjoy all the music, and love to discover new sounds, that's what it should be about. Once a keyword attachment, ie; "punker" "snotty" "jangly" there are all kinds of "experts" willing to provoke an argument based on a personal taste.

There is quantity on this one, seller well known for his steep prices. I remember Mark mentioning that the white label was the one to go for since it had a punchier mix. (he's got no white labels for sale, already asked him)

But soundfiles available for those who have not heard it:

HUH? COOL! Didn't know that when I sold that to Mark. I seem to remember him passing on it initially. Mark?

I didn't know it either. It was only when I later obtained a stock label copy that I immediately noticed the difference. The test press (not a promo) has different deadwax and is obviously a different mix (or more likely the same mix, mastered differently). It's the same take of the song, but the stock copy has added a very cavernous artificial echo which drowns the detail and power, which you can clearly hear on the test pressing which is also louder. I have no doubt that most, if not all of us, would prefer the sound of the test press. I certainly do.

TOMBSTONES - ?

981 songs are out there :)

If you mean the Tombstones' "Tell It To a Tombstone" on Big Beat is included in the Trip In Tyme #5 CD and on the Suburban Life LP (and on a Forum comp by Rich Strauss, if I remember correctly).

Imagine a room full of G45 wax with sound booths, visual projections and ephemera.

Can we get a proper museum exhibition up and running and tour it around the world? How else are you going to turn up new unheard of finds than having a "bring your own 60's garage 45" booth for copying, documenting histories of bands, local scenes ..... or collecting by donations of artifacts for the good of all humanity?

I have experience working in Museums and Art Galleries for some years setting up exhibitions. I could volunteer to tour around the globe for a few years if needed.

What about these?

The Bends - The Four Seasons Of Love (Rebel)
The Centrees - Why (Wildwood)
Chaz And The Classics - Stardust And You (Picture)
The Cliques - Ballad Of A Destitute Man (Custom)
The Creations - Little Black Egg (Hull)
The Dominions - Spanish Harlem (Graves)
Frank Ventura And The Crescents - Terrys Tune (Amber)
The Gentrys - Moments (Kado)
The Hotbeats - Injun (Rychard)
Kempy And The Guardians - Never (Romunda)
Mott's-Men - Comin' Or Goin' (Loren)
The Remaining Few - Boogie Blues (Projection)
The Sands Of Time - I Want To Thank You Girl (Sterling)
The Secrets - Love (Raven)
The Things - Take It From Me (DJ)
Threshold Of Sound - Nobody But Us (Nettie)

I know most of these don't fall into the 'garage' category, but have they ever been shared with the public ever? I remember someone, I believe it was Darren J. Wallace who asked about these G45 elusives sometime ago. His list didn't mention these though. Anybody know where I can hear maybe one or two, without bugging anybody?

I've heard a 'lil bit of "Boogie Blues", but the rest are total mysteries!

I have some of those. No wait, all of them.
But there's a good reason why many remain uncompiled, as you'll hear.
2 different 45 versions of "Why" by The Centrees are included. Why2.mp3 is the flip of the version of "She's Good For Me" which is found on BFTG Vol. 5 LP.
