G45 Ebay Watch

Howdy folks,
I'll go ahead an introduce myself on this thread. I was, indeed, the seller of the Knights Bridge 45. I received only one offer (from someone in Germany for $700).. roughly a day later, the winner purchased the record full price.
A friend of mine frequents this forum and mentioned this thread to me.
eargasm!, if you're still after this record, you're probably in luck, as that was not me that shopped it to you (unless, of course you know someone I know... ).
Quick back-history of the record: I've been buying/selling a bit for the past 4 years or so in the Nashville area. I'm back in Texas for the moment. My grandfather's sister has been conquering garage & estate sales throughout NE Texas for the past 20 years. I'd never been through her records. Well, she called me and said it was time to thin out the shelves. So I dug through a few thousand Dean Martins and Tom Jones'... and wouldn't you know.. there's Knights Bridge. It was borderline NM-, but I called it VG+ to be safe (I know how some of you are :) ) She recalled getting it at a garage sale just east of Dallas - possibly Wills Point. She claims to never have spent more than 25 cents on a 45. So, she was certainly happy about the final price.
Anywho, now that I know about you guys, I'll let you know what I find before I put it on eBay or Audiogon.

A mutual friend mentioned it to me, Big Tex! Welcome to the forum. I mentioned to him that it was pretty rare and probably a little too much for my wallet at this time.
 
Just looking through some old posts...

What on EARTH would cause an Unrelated Segments 45 on Liberty to go for over $600? No nationally-issued 45 should go that high. Did something limit distribution, like what happened to the Park Avenue Playground singles?
 
I don't think the flowery teens was looking for a moody punker in the summer of \68. Can't imagine this received a lot of promotion from Liberty, if any at all. Also, killer song+BFTG disc+Cynics live staple and you have a lot of people who will want a copy.

When I bought my copy beginning of 2001/2 they were around for $150-200. Since then the price has rocketed, don't know why. Except that's it's a killer tune of course! A 10 in my book.

Look at all the guys falling over one another to try and buy the record outright. 5,000 pounds maybe at the close?

And the ones falling over another all have trouble spelling proper. I remember the few times I have sold big ticket items (not garage) on eBay. Those who contacted me to try and end early, be it doo-wop or British crust, where all from Italy. Coincidence? I will be diplomatic and say no idea.

looks suspicious to me. Could there really be a pressed punk single from the UK that no one knows about at this point in time? Almost looks like the print went directly on top of the affixed label. Convenient of them to put 1978 on the label.

By golly, you´re right! (can I use this expression although I´m not British?) If you use the zoom function on the labels it seems like the print is not affected by the indentation on the label. it just flows smoothly in the air.

apparently there could, not many though. panciera mentions three that have turned up since "45 revolutions" was published 4 years ago - incl. this here. Which is genuine, according to Dizzy Detour who traced the origins of the recording back to Manchester's Cargo Studios (Joy Division/Fall...). I'd guess there'll be a drastic price drop once ex-members are notified of this sale, and clear out the basement.
 
It's been a bit of a trophy piece since it's inclusion in the comp of the same title . I sold my copy for 500 pounds about 10 years ago and with the way prices have developed since.....

This particular seller does have a lot of great stuff but the opening bids seem to turn a lot of people off from actually doing so. The cheapest item is a Jeff Beck Group Japanese 45 with a starting bid of $79.99.
 
he has a lot of nice stuff but sometimes at a very high price. The Allen Pound´s get rich is way to high. price is still 500 gbp or MAYBE a bit higher.

He is a forum member too.....
