G45 Ebay Watch

So....What is the deal with the different deadwax markings (vs the stock issue)? I do not think of this as being an item that they made enough of to warrant different stampers...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230853221244

The sellers description is confusing. He quotes from a discography - what is that? Something online? I agree with what you say about the unlikeliness of multiple stampers of the record.
I have a labelled copy of the TC 45 that I can check at home. I don't remember if the record is a promo or stock but it has the standard yellow/green label.

First thing I did was look at the deadwax of my stock copy.... The scrawling is different.... Which could mean that it was a rejected test pressing... But then why would they then use it as a promo (as this was found in a stack of IA promos in the collection of a DJ from back in the day.... ) if it was rejected? the provenance seems right as there was also a similarly different Disciples of Shaftesbury White Label copy....Which has never really been a money record so that sort of rules out anybody going through the effort to boot it.... headscratcher.....

Just because it was with other DJ pressings doesn't necessarily mean it was issued to radio stations.
After all, the seller doesn't say where he got it from.

when it first went up I sent him an email asking "Those matrix marks are not the same ones from my stock IA-110.. Is this a repress or bootleg?"
And he repied with
"I don't believe it is either, the record was found with quite a few DJ
copies from the IA library, I've listed those as well on ebay. I also have
a copy of the Disciples of Shaftesbury that is the same as the Thursday's
Children Label the martix numbers on this record are IA - 109A 2001 109B
2002 - the 2002 would connect with the Children's listed Matrix. It's as if
these two were pressed with the wrong matrix - off one number. I'm 99% sure
of the autenticity. It may have been a test or something from IA. The
records came out of a collection of Houston/Conroe area 45's. All local
obscure labels, including some early rockabilly acetates from Mickey Gilley
- pre Astro. Lot's of Huey Meaux produced things, Sleepy Labeff, etc. Some
very rare obscure stuff. There was nothing new or recent in the collection
and nothing that would give any indication of a reprint or bootleg. I
believe that the records came from a record guy or someone close to the
company. Hope that this helps."

So I guess the question that I have is, does any documentation exist in the hands of the collector community that notes anything about there being a different set of stampers for this era of International Artists 45s (specifically the less popular titles like IA-109 and IA-110)? I mean, if there exists such vast documentation of the variants of You're Gonna Miss Me, seems like there might be more office paperwork from back in the day to tell the story of other bits of the catalog....

I have some paperwork for a lot of the '60s stuff cut at various places in and around Houston. Don Julio Blanco used to send me xerox copies when he was trawling thru the Huey Meaux archival stash now in the hands of some college in San Antonio, I think...

Anyway, the umarked label pressing is a demo copy, sent back to the client for them to check and make sure the sound and correct "take" was to be used before pressing the 45. I'm sure that is why the numbers in the deadwax are not the same as the regular pressed copies. Perhaps someone made an error and realized it by correctly numbering the matrix for the pressing. I've got the paperwork from Rainbo Records (the company that pressed the bulk of "You're Gonna Miss Me" on I A 107, and all of the I A pressings from #108 to #111). I'd have to dig it out to find it, unless DJB is lurking and has his info readily available.

Man, I would love a pdf scan if you find it sometime! (yes, I am a dork)

Did not real think I´d win this but took a chance thinking maybe the condition would scare people off. First time a 4 figure bid only put me in 6th place!

Winner was German by the way.

If ebay authorities receive a quite few messages from us , I am quite sure that they will re-think to get back the subcategory of ''Garage/60s Punk" - I have already message them and I am waiting to their reply
But I think that it will be work, if they receive a lot of message from us with that kind request

I saw that Heard - Poppies 45 go... I personally feel that is a bargain, the a-side is a killer.

One day, I will be able to afford these beasts, one day!!!

Painted Air however... forget it, I'd need to sell limbs in order to afford it, that 45 is more expensive than my car.

I've done my bit. I sent eBay a message about their absurd style categories. If you want to do the same, just click on the "let us know what you think" button on the eBay homepage, and let 'em know! Here's what I wrote.

The new styles in Music->Records-Rock are very inadequate. I collect sixties garage music, and previously it was very easy to find the records I'm interested in. Since you changed the styles, there is no style available for sixties garage, or garage rock. Psychedelic Rock is something else completely different.

If you look at my history, you will see that I've spent literally tens of thousands of dollars on eBay auctions, all on "sixties garage" music. Could you please include a style called "sixties garage" under the Rock heading? I can assure you, the "sixties garage" category would attract thousands of entries per week, unlike some of the existing categories which attract one entry per week, or none. Have a look at "Classical Pop" or "Pop Metal". No-one cares about those styles.
