G45 Ebay Watch

Noticed the Sound Investment on Orlyn up on eBay with much hype. Touted as "Holy Grail" and "garage gem" or some crap. Total baloney.

Potential bidders be aware that this is very "average" sunshine pop with horns and vocal bup-bup-bup-bah's rendering it into a genre that should not invoke the name of G45 in the sales pitch.

So beware. Not worth more than $50 even to a completist, in my opinion. The G45 Oracle says $45 in vg minus. (SA2/SB1/R8/L1/T1/A4). Spot on Mr. Oracle.

I messaged the seller last night re: the Orlyn and told them as much. I don't think they really know anything about records, but just grabbed info from a few google hits (i.e. the Houston Sound Investment). I told them the 45 was a blip on the Orlyn radar, not garage, and likely of interest to just a completist.

Don't know if the acetate's real or not, but a VG- acetate of the Atlantic version for $16K! I really don't think so. Maybe if it was a '66 demo it might fetch upwards of $1,000 or maybe a little higher, but this seems total bunk.

September 9th kicked off a multi-day spending spree on eBay (not by me). Here are some of the highlights:

1. A VG copy of The Mystic Tide - Frustration/Psychedelic Journey Part 1 on Solid Sound sold for $383.
2. A VG- copy of The Cave Men - It's Trash/The Pillow Bit on 'Chelle sold for $1,140.
3. An EX+ ACETATE of The Calico Wall - I'm A Living Sickness/Flight Reaction on Dove sold for $2,961.
4. An EX+ copy of Dirty Wurds - Why/Takin' My Blues Away on Marina sold for $794.
5. A VG copy of Knights Bridge - Make Me Some Love/C.J. Smith on Sea Ell sold for $1,303.

Note that all of the above were sold on the same day by the same seller (audiofixation)! Anybody know who this seller is?

Interested to see how much audiofixation gets for his Backgrounds on Cenco, I let a super clean one go in a private sale a couple of weeks ago, great record.

Looks like a scam to me.

Feedback rating of '1' would raise my eyebrows......but I've always been ultra cautious on Ebay when sellers have low feedback.

The Sloths picture sleeve in the auction is a scan that I made of my copy, which I bought about 10 years ago from Moptopmike. The exact same little crease on the left hand side, and all other tiny defects are identical. So, it's definitely a scam.
