G45 Ebay Watch

The Grainger Hunt "Noah" 45 has been reissued by our friend in Germany, Thorsten. He also runs PureSoul mailorder. It's the first release on his Jelma imprint. I believe Tim mastered it, can't remember. At any rate, it is a top quality reissue 45. The sound is extraordinary. If you just want a great sounding copy of both songs then this is all you need.
 
speaking of that track, it was recently comped on some series called debris. it's obviously not garage, but i think since it has the 'believers' connection, that's why the guy added it to the batch. that one came from the original 45, tho. i had no idea they reissued it. it's indeed a hot track!
 
A lot of those Debris trax are extracted from various websites, blogs, and ebay auctions (if the entire clip is included).
It may be claimed as taken from the 45, but the recordings themselves may not be direct dubs made by the compiler from the 45.

This is true. I recognize a lot of those Debris tracks from ebay auctions, so unless the 'compiler' has won them all, this series is just a collection of MP3's culled from ebay auctions (and possibly websites/blogs).
Not that there's anything wrong with that as long as they're free... But to claim they're taken directly from his own 45's is pretty cheeky.
 
Been away for awhile, so here is a catch up of recent G45 sales and other high selling singles from the last few weeks:
1. A Mint copy of The Dagenites - I'm Gone Slide on Heigh-Ho sold by a member of the band for $484.00.
2. A G+ copy of The Mystery Men - I Got A Feeling / Pier X instrumental on Ceva sold for $129.00, the G45 200 has been updated.
3. A VG+ /VG copy of The Worlocks - You Keep Me hanging On on NWI sold for $499.00.
4. A VG (or so) copy of The Bryds - Your Lies / Why Did You Break My Heart on Raynard sold for $316.00, the G45 200 has been updated.
5. A VG++ copy of Teddy & His Patches - Suzy Creamcheese sold for $338.00.
6. A POOR !! condition copy of The Tasmanians - Baby / Love, Love Love on Conda sold for $394.00, the G45 200 has been updated.
7. A VG++ copy of Atilla & The Huns - Mojo Cools / My Names Big Daddy on Beaux Art Sound sold for $900.00, while another copy listed a week later in same condition VG++ did NOT SELL for the start price of $899.95. THE G45 has been updated.
8. A VG+ copy of the Lemon Fog - Echoes Of Time on Orbit sold for $404.00.
9. A VG+ copy of the Sloths - Makin' Love / You Mean Everything To Me on Impression VINYL ONLY !!!, sold by the same guy who recently bought the one with the P/S for $1525.00, the G45 has been updated.
10. A VG++ copy of The Bends - If Its All The Same To You / The Four Seasons Of Love on Rebel sold for $767.00, the G45 has been updated.
11. A VG copy of Ron Gray on HBR sold for $534.00.
12. A VG- copy of The Tombstones - I Want You on Grave sold for $588.00.
13. An acetate of a band called Shades Of Grey doing 2 decent Garage covers of Fire and Louie Go Home sold for $383.00.
14. While more (or only) on the Psych side an EX/VG+ copy of the FRUMIOUS BANDERSNATCH EP with the original P/S sold for $776.00.
 
The Boyd label acetate of the Gentlemen "It's A Crying Shame" (earlier version) sold for just over 3 grand. Surprised to discover the winner is also a dealer from Europe - based on what (he) charges for his "sale" items (can you say overpriced?) I wonder if the acetate will appear on his roster of unsold wares...

How can people tell who buyers are when all the info you get on the buyer is "r***l

)"?? often on this forum people keep talking about the buyer as if they know exactly who it is...
 
As a former seller on ebay, I kept track of people who participated in my auctions, or other seller's auctions before the user IDs were hidden for buyer protection. I'd check on bidders and keep track of them, so when the IDs became hidden (and the mumbo-jumbo mixed up letter/number combinations for each bidder remain the same as well, so it is just like having the old user ID), it was easy to keep tabs since I had them all logged. The feedback numbers, if unchanged due to switching user IDs, also remain constant.
I proceed to completed auction searchers by either item or bidder ID and see who won, since I know their names I can put two and two together
 
Ah yes. eBay was much more fun some years ago. What's the point of snazzy user names now?! :%: Glad I kept track of a dozen or so prominent bidder-identities.
But it still isn't harder today than entering a low non-winning bid amount and then track your auction history. You will see the bidder name in full. Though figuring out who it is might prove a bit more tricky if you haven't been an avid member of the last two-three forums from beginning to end.

Guess P's username ain't that secret, after all he is using e-cellaronline as a vendor name. Remember he won the Bees with PS in the early 2000's for $1200ish which I guess was cheap in hindsight, though the USD was strong at that point in time. He certainly made a nice profit if it sold for what he had listed it at in his Boutique.

didn't realise the jumbled up tag always was the same. makes a mockery of the system to some degree.

Maybe he brought it for himself? can't see any profit in it really. $3k is a lot of money for small market like the garage collecting one. who'd pay 3.5 or 4 now?
 
I find it fascinating that only a handful of Rockabilly 45's would bring a price so large for a 45, but with Garage 45's it seems that there is a huge list of endless 45's that easily bring astonishing prices. Northern Soul is the only exception to this. Rockabilly collectors have been around for such a long time, it seems that the price has been long ago established for the big money 45's, but the Garage scene is a budding market, and eye-opening prices are realized as more younger people join the collecting frenzy. The recent store I opened up is a perfect example, as I sell to the 16-36 crowd music that may be common to established collectors, but new to them, and I really enjoy turning people onto sounds from Zappa to the Pebble's series, and from Janis Ian to Ultimate Spinach or Charlie Feathers or the Phantom. I think it is a terrific testimony that even in a bad economy that collecting records a fun and exciting hobby especially when unknown 45's are still being discovered in the attics and brought out into the world for collectors who love music to wallow in the timeless appreciation of rare, unique and profitable pieces of plastic, that sometimes have beautiful labels, and exquisite sounds.
