yes, i noticed but i never realised the green one was that rare. so the stash (100+ i believe) that turned up a couple of years ago was all red labels?

There's been M- unplayed copies of the red label in circulation since the early 1980s. Hundreds sold. The green label was nearly extinct until about 8 years ago when the occasional used copy has turned up near the band's hometown. There has never been any quantity of the green labels, not even from the band. The records are completely different recordings.

The green label is uncomped. The red is the version on BFTG. Both are great versions, but the green is slightly cruder than the red label. Until the eBay copy, I had never seen a green label in 18 years collecting. But last week I saw another copy, in the collection that will be sold here soon.

I see Keb D has started buying rare garage 45s (or maybe for a long time…), buckle up! As the eBay watch once upon a time was meant as a sort of reality check/companion to the g45; maybe start monitoring Facebook sales groups as well? Especially one of them is starting to heat up.

These higher-dollar eBay sales brought September to a close:

1. A M- copy of Gonn - Blackout of Gretely/Pain In My Heart on Emir sold for $928.
2. A VG- copy of The Vaqueros - Growing Pains/69 on Studio City sold for $338.
3. A VG+ copy of Psycho - You Need Me/You Think You've Got Me on Frantic sold for $345.

wonder what a near mint red label version would sell for?

Probably about $8k. I just don't think there are any players above that level. That's my limit for any record these days. Even then I would have to think hard about it. Denise red label is probably the only 45 I don't already have that would get me excited enough to go that crazy.

Records are not unique items like paintings. A quantity find is always a real possibility, even for the rarest 45s. So beware!
