G45 Ebay Watch

These higher-dollar eBay sales brought September to a close:

1. An EX copy of Larry & the Blue Notes - Night of the Phantom/All My Own on Tiris sold for $502.
2. A VG++ copy of The Omens - Searching/Girl Get Away on Cody sold for $462.
3. A NM- copy of The Paradox - There's A Flower Shop/With Someone To Love on Fuljac sold for $499.
4. A VG++/M- copy of We the People - In The Past/St. John's Shop on Challenge sold for $386.

Oh my, how could I miss this one??? Silly me! Super want.

4. A VG++/M- copy of We the People - In The Past/St. John's Shop on Challenge sold for $386.

Huh? What happened here?

The strong USD + the GBP is making stuff insanely expensive at the moment. I just ordered the new Flashback from the UK and it cost me the equivalent of a decent major label garage fuzz blaster. Which is just plain silly.

"In The Past" is the hardest of their Challenge 45s to find. As a matter of fact, it took me over 15 years to win a copy of "In The Past" in mint condition, just a couple of months ago. If you look at Popsike, it has sold for over $300 at least seven times.

Quite telling of late, that non USA residing ebay record sellers place their offerings in U.S. dollars instead of the Euro. I never bid on 45s offered by non USA sellers since the dollar cost at least double what the Euro was worth at that time.

Also - the Fuzztones 45 did not sell for $763. If you read thru the appropriate thread on G45, a member on here returned it to the seller as the 45 was completely trashed, in poor condition. The seller re-listed it, I'm not sure of the precise selling price at the moment, but it likely sold for less than $300.

I did not know that. It used to be "around" back when I was looking.

Well, if "In The Past" was around when I got mine (1992-3) it still cost me well over $100, while the first 2 Challenge label 45s were solid sellers at $30-40. I have Vic Figlar's mail-order auction lists (think I have 7 different ones saved in the box); he auctioned a M- DJ copy of "In The Past", I bid $98 and lost.

"Mirror Of Your Mind" and "You Burn Me Up And Down" now fetch $200 all day long in top condition, if not more.
I used to have the stock and DJ copy of both of those and decided to keep the white label DJ pressings - the mastering on those seemed louder and more intense to my ears than the stock copies when I played them simultaneously.

The following higher-dollar eBay sales kicked-off October:

1. A VG+ copy of The Amoeba - Lost Love/Time Is On My Side on Orfeon sold for $573.
2. A VG copy of Four More - Problem Child/Don't Give Up Hope on Fairchild sold for $2,876.
3. A VG copy of The Lyrics - So What/They Can't Hurt Me on ERA sold for $472.
4. An EX copy of The Mods - I Give You An Inch/You've Got Another Think Coming on Peck sold for $312.

Cheers Down-n-out.

Anyone been keeping tabs on how many Mods singles have been listed? Seems to have been up constantly for months.

A flock of half a dozen Mods at least, I think, and varying greatly in price. From less than $300 to $500+

Thanks for pointing this out. I don't generally list sales below $300. In the case of The Mods, this can make the results misleading, as I am only listing the sales above $300. As Greg notes, some copies have been selling for less than $300.

Moving into mid-October:

1. A VG/VG- copy of The Tasmanians - Baby/Love, Love, Love on Conda sold for $650.
2. A VG- copy of The Tamrons - Wild-Man/Stop, Look, Listen on Pyramid sold for $859.
3. A VG+ copy of The Avengers - Be A Cave Man/Broken Hearts Ahead on Star-Burst sold for $697.
4. A M- copy of The Shady Daze - I'll Make You Pay on USA sold for $797.
5. A VG+ copy of Skip Ellis - Your Bad/Ice Cube Girl on City sold for $1,653.

These higher-dollar eBay sales brought October to a close:

1. A M- copy of The Sound Barrier - My Baby's Gone/Hey Hey on Zounds sold as a BUY IT NOW for $999.
2. A VG+ copy of The Human Expression - Optical Sound/Calm Me Down on Accent sold for $923.

Big prices on Shady Daze at the moment, I've not come close to getting it twice this year. I got the Human Expression above, one of the very few records I'd drop that kind of money for. I'd have loved The Sound Barrier too but it was just too rich for me.

3. A VG- copy of The Banshees - Project Blue/Free on Dunwich sold for $417.
