As a spin-off from the G45 Database project, G45central is pleased to announce the arrival of the G45 Oracle '60s garage 45 valuation tool. You can see and experiment with version 1.0 of The Oracle in the G45 Market section of the forum.

The Oracle uses 6 G45 Factors and 2 Defect Factors to calculate its values. I'm working on a help page for the Oracle which will explain exactly how each Oracle Factor and Defect Factor works. There are also adjustable Inflation and Genre Heat Factors which will be annually updated to reflect changes in the overall market value (currently Genre Heat is 1.00, and Inflation is 1.00). In addition, the G45 Database will contain the 6 official G45 Factors for each listed 45.

Meanwhile you can experiment with the new tool and hopefully use it to obtain sensible values for the '60s garage 45s in your collection.

It's high time a logical system was developed to derive a value for '60s garage 45s. The "market" is not based on logical factors, it's just a shark-infested cauldron of hype, hearsay and dealer greed (and to be fair collector greed and stupidity as well). Yet collectors have developed a sophisticated appreciation of the genre which by now can be quantified precisely using G45 Factors. This system can now be applied to logically derive the values of '60s garage 45s.

Somehow I missed this topic. Tested a few classics, results turned out remarkably close to what I thought was fair.

Good to see the tongue-in-cheekiness that was part of what made the old g45 list such a great read is still intact!

A level 10, broken disc (known as a "wilgus) or perhaps the emoticon  would be more fitting

Thanks Mr. Segment.
I predict it won't be long before all the other genres - Northern Soul, Psychedelic, Blues etc. will be scrambling to install their own Oracles. Or risk becoming laughing stocks.
