I have a tape (a copy, not the original) of some surf and garage covers by Hawaiian combos of the mid sixties, performing live at the Battle Of The Bands. Some of the bands are
Spirits, Casuals, Undertakers, Raiders, Dimensions, Impacts, Arcades, Kona-Kasuals, Delrays, Stardells.

Lots of surf instro covers which are great, with lots of screaming and cheering from the audience. And covers including Double Shot, Roselyn, Stupid Girl, Louie Louie, Twist And Shout etc. Really exciting performances.

I would love to know if this has been released on vinyl. Does anyone know anything about it?

That looks like it. But the tape has 31 tracks, including all of the ones listed for the LP. At least I assume they are the same, because the tape does not list all the names of the combos. It just lists a few on the front.

I agree with Mr. Splendid. Live at the Funny Farm was a 'fake' live LP. Three of the songs on it were released on two singles on the Scene label - one a split with the Undertakers and the Spirits, the other (without the crowd noise for the 45) was "Dancing With My Girl" by the Val Richards V with a flip not on the LP.

2 of the lps are on sounds of hawaii & are definately live. one has a blue cover , the other is orange. the 3rd one has a gray cover & says battle of the bands. that one if refered to as the starr battle of the bands lp. the duplex are on the starr battle of the bands. there's also an lp on boss called boss hits one side is instrumentals , the other side is vocals. its all studio tracks. then there's the live at the funny farm lp.
i have all these lps except the blue cover lp

Thanks Ed. Some of the tracks are the same as what I have on tape. I have a feeling that the tape contains some unreleased material, but the quality is pretty rough. It's an amazing window to the live band scene in Hawaii '63-'66 (and presumably similar throughout the USA).
