This is interesting… I might have to give it a try. Does it display the value on the package for customs?
Right..Also, if it's over $1000 it has to go by at least Global Priority. There is a limit to Shipsaver insurance - $2,500 per package, in case you're moving some high-end stuff.
I no longer send high priced records by expensive methods. Turns out, Ebay and Paypal will never, ever pay off if the item gets lost or if the buyer lies and says it didn't arrive. Doesn't matter if you send it overnight for $100, the seller is f'ed. So always use Shipsaver insurance and just send it by regular 1st class intl. mail. Shipsaver pays off in about 3 days. THEY RULE!
If I sell to Europe off ebay, and send 1st class international through the post office, how can I insure the package through Shipsaver? 1st class does not provide a tracking # - the LZ 999 999 999 US type number that is on the package is a customs number and doesn't give tracking on the USPS site. One of our users pointed us to this thread. We wanted to chime in as Shipsurance is the insurance provider for ShipSaver Insurance. For clarification purposes; eBay does not own or have anything to do with ShipSaver. The insurance is available for eBay users and accessible through their App Store, but eBay has nothing to do with it. We are happy that it offers the protection that helps you in your International shipping.

If I can't offer a tracking # I can't insure it, right?
You don't have to have a tracking number if the item is $999.99 or lower. Just send it by 1st class. If it sells for over $1000.00 to $2500.00 it needs to go by Priority Intl. mail. Most times it won't track it past the last U.S. address. You'll probably see that when it arrives that the last tracking will still be Chicago. I live in Sacramento and most of the time the last time it shows it arrived in Los Angeles. And then that's it. Even though it will arrive at it's European destination. Sometimes I get lucky and it tracks it all the way to Europe. I think you're still good to go.:)Currently awaiting a record which is very slow in arriving. Isn't this tracking a bit worrying? Should it not have a few more movements beyond Chicago by now?

Only 20%-30% of the time will it say deliveredThe next status update wil be when it lands in your country.
It will say something like "Processed through sort facility (country name)".
Then after that will be "delivered".
One note: All tracking info entered on the USPS site is dependent upon the clerks doing their jobs correctly and scanning the number into the system. It doesn't always happen; steps are sometimes skipped or entered late.
More of mine have been marked delivered than haven't.Only 20%-30% of the time will it say delivered
Depends which hub it ships out of.More of mine have been marked delivered than haven't.
Guess I'm luckier, or they just like me better.
How much did the record sell for? Will Shipsaver consider that a tracking # and proof of shipment?
Under $250How much did the record sell for?
You don't need a tracking number. Just make sure that if you do file a claim that Shipsaver can see that you delivered the package to the p.o.Under $250
