Can anyone turn me on to more 60s/70s soul 45s like this? There must be lots...

High Energy. Great tunes. Great singing. Super cool guitar, bass and piano sounds. Punchy, Uplifting, Dynamic. Northern, Southern Eastern or Western. Preferably on 45 but any format will do. Extra points given for cheap and common!

This song went to #1 on my local Top 40 radio station in March, 1968. A huge fave!

I was lucky to see James Brown, and this guy perform live at a show in 1982. I was one of a handful of white folks in the entire crowd (10,000 or more), invited by a then older co-worker in return for making him tons of cassettes of soul & r&b 45s. We went in his purple '74 caddy with a small entourage of dudes and ladies, all of whom looked like they were right out of the movie, 'Across 110th Street'. I've seen some great shows in my time, JB killed it, but this guy absolutely slayed. I've never witnessed a wilder performance by anyone, be it a group, or solo.
Here he is belting out one of my faves, from 1971 with a groove that don't let up!

You WERE lucky, MopTop! I was a big fan of both back in the day, but never saw either live. I was able to work a few of JBs moves into our act as Simon Soul and the Knight Raiders, however.

After the assignation of MLK, Washington, DC was burning as angry folks rioted in the streets. So, the local TV stations ran recorded shows of James Brown in the hopes it would get folks off the streets. Worked for me. -TJ

It has a nice Arkay IV feel to it... until the singing starts.
