I've been familiar with this unreleased gem under the name Us (or The US)...

...however, the "Dance With Me: The Autumn Teen Sound" tracklist seems to call the band "Airmen of Note". Which name is the proper one - or are they both the same band?

This is an absolute favorite of mind. I was in touch with Bob Segarini, and the band name was The Us. I don't recall ever seeing the Airmen name before...

It seems to be just Allmusic that has the Airmen name on there.

Probably just a submission error, but one has to wonder where that name came from.

I only know of The Airmen Of Note who backed The Free Design on a rare armed forces recording, 'Don't Turn Away' (I think even Light In The Attic missed this one). It's pretty cool but not garage rock in the least.
