How Unknown Can You Go?

I think every track that is added should be be doctored in some way (added dropouts, cut off part of the song, low quality recording etc.) or else some bootlegger will just steal the tracks and release a bootleg and take all the credit. ;)

That's a good idea. Cutting off the last 10 or 20 seconds of the track would be advisable for anyone who doesn't want this to happen.

If you have the ability to mix audio, you can download and use this file of vinyl crackle to add to the music, to discourage bootleggers. Maybe add it to the last half of the song? At least this way, we could hear the entire song.

The bootleggers will just fade it then, easy to silence out a few seconds here and there.

After the link is posted, registered members have 7 days to briefly answer the post if they know the tune. It would be good if the brief comment could include such information as the name of the band and where the tune was heard etc.

After 7 days, the points are calculated based on the number of people who knew the song, and the musical quality rating (awarded by Professor Moptopmike taking the popular vote into account at his discretion). The points will be added to the total points scored so far by that member. After points for 6 posts by any member have been calculated, that member's score will be locked.

At the end of 18th October 2014, the player with the highest points will be the winner.

is there a way to set a deadline for member/participant inclusion?

Might as well start things off with a 10. Here's one coming out soon. I've added some silent spots and saved it at 96 kpbs to stave off the boot boys.. I simply titled it TOP THIS...:yikes:

By the by...I played this for MopTop on the phone last year so he is disqualified.

Ha ha! No he's not.
I liked it, but I wouldn't rate it more than 6 (on first hearing).

too bad I upped Rooftops by the Fatigues a while back. What did you rate that at Mark?

I don't think PM is doing comps anymore...

I'd probably give that a 7 or 8, Joey. It's great, but wears thin after a few plays.
So Rooftops goes down after a coupla spins, does that mean the song I listed a few minutes ago will go up after a few spins? ha!

Wow, that went straight into my database! Is that the Stanco Fatigues?

Go easy on the dropouts: it interrupts the flow too much making it hard to get an emotional handle on the song. :boggle: I think a few seconds off the end would suffice.
nope, there are guys who would just fade it out and release it. It is the Stanco Fatigues.!!!

Maybe when it's officially released. I don't think I could sit through it more than once with the gaps.
But you are the only one of two people in the world who own the record.:yikes: You can go Gapless anytime you want.

I was talking about TOP THIS. Anyway it looks like you will score pretty high with it. I doubt if more than one other person (MTM) has ever heard it = 50 points x song rating score.

I'm going to open with a completely unknown pre-teen garage acetate. Very unusual and sort of reminds me of Mo Tucker Velvet Underground style...coming soon. I'm sure NO-body has heard it (not even Alec P.):%:
