The downloads of the Secret Society are available in 2 flavors, FLAC and MP3. The FLAC lossless audio format has superior sound quality (the same as a CD), but is compressed for faster downloads and must be decoded (un-compressed) after you download. The FLAC decoder is available for free here :

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

Just click on the above link, and follow the instructions to install the FLAC decoder. It only takes a minute or two.

After installing the FLAC decoder, download the files from the "TheSkyIsBlackFLAC" and "OrlynBonusFLAC" folders. Then use the FLAC decoder to de-compress the FLAC files to pure CD quality WAV or AIFF files.

If you are happy with 96 kbps (mono) mp3, then just download the files in the "TheSkyIsBlackMP3" and "OrlynBonusMP3" folders, and forget about the FLAC files.

If you have difficulty with the download process, post questions and comments here, and I'll try to help.

I use Magix Audio SoundLab #16 which coverts flac files without the need for a seperate decoder. It was then a breeze to burn the flacs to a CDR without any hassle.

I don't have a way to do any of this stuff. If anybody can burn me a CD of the Orlyn stuff I'd gladly pay postage and send you a cool CD of off the radar garage 45's from my collection.

Greg... did anybody take care of you on this? If not, shoot me an email with an address and I'll get the discs out to you later this week.

Could anybody please tell me which of the five flac options I should choose for Mac OS X? A couple of them says "source code not availible". I tried the "xACT" version and that didn't seem to work... Any help would be most appreciated!

I've always used Mac Flac (free download) to decompress the flacs. Recently i found it didn't work for some files so i tried another free decoder called XLD and that has opened everything.
This is on an old G4 Mac running Tiger, so if it works on that ancient setup it should work on anything.

I found a program called Switch Sound File Converter which works well for me on Windows, Flac Frontend didn't seem to work with Windows Vista. I could play flac but now as wav I can burn them too, so enjoying the Orlyn sides all over again!
