Some people have asked me a few questions about the way this is being handled, so I'll repeat my answers here.
This is a private collection owned by a long-time and very low-key Australian collector who has had a recent unfortunate serious illness from which he is now recovering. The collection is being sold by a dealer who lives in Sydney, who I have met on previous occasions and have found to be honest and reliable.
I personally have no interest or involvement with the sale of the records. Like everyone else, if I want a record I have to pay the price determined by the seller. I have the benefit of first look, but no other special treatment. Because the collection seems to be heavily biased toward TX records (so far), there are not many I need anyway. 99 percent of the collection will go up on G45, including nearly all of the high end items.
G45Central does not benefit in any way from records sold here. We are not a middle-man, it's a free service. The seller is using info gained via internet research to set the prices, and from what I have seen, they are very fair, not particularly high or low. The funds are going to the owner of the records, for his long term care and rehabilitation.
The records will be put up in batches of 50 to 100 at a time (to be purchased individually), over a period of at least several months. The first batch may appear quite ordinary, but don't be fooled by that, as the big ticket items will be coming in the new year. From what I've seen (which is only a fraction of the total), this will be the best collection of '60s garage records ever offered for sale anywhere.
