Today I inspected a part of the 60s garage collection which is going up for sale on G45Central Set Sale Supermarket starting in December. I just want to say, you will all want to keep a close watch on this. I saw about 4 boxes of a total of approx. 16 boxes which will be sold. In those 4 boxes, I found The Aztex on Staff (looked about vg++ at a glance), Kempy & The Guardians on Romunda (looked mint), Just Too Much "She Gives Me Time" on M-G, Gentlemen on Vandan, Tilt-A-Whirl on Totem, Murphy & The Mob...need I go on? Most are near mint, and there's a lot of UK freakbeat and beat as well. 3,000 45s collected mostly in the '70s and early 80s, untouched since then....(not all strictly 60s garage, but most of them are).

Some people have asked me a few questions about the way this is being handled, so I'll repeat my answers here.

This is a private collection owned by a long-time and very low-key Australian collector who has had a recent unfortunate serious illness from which he is now recovering. The collection is being sold by a dealer who lives in Sydney, who I have met on previous occasions and have found to be honest and reliable.

I personally have no interest or involvement with the sale of the records. Like everyone else, if I want a record I have to pay the price determined by the seller. I have the benefit of first look, but no other special treatment. Because the collection seems to be heavily biased toward TX records (so far), there are not many I need anyway. 99 percent of the collection will go up on G45, including nearly all of the high end items.

G45Central does not benefit in any way from records sold here. We are not a middle-man, it's a free service. The seller is using info gained via internet research to set the prices, and from what I have seen, they are very fair, not particularly high or low. The funds are going to the owner of the records, for his long term care and rehabilitation.

The records will be put up in batches of 50 to 100 at a time (to be purchased individually), over a period of at least several months. The first batch may appear quite ordinary, but don't be fooled by that, as the big ticket items will be coming in the new year. From what I've seen (which is only a fraction of the total), this will be the best collection of '60s garage records ever offered for sale anywhere.

I have no money for buying 45s these days, but this is going to be fun to follow and I wish the seller and all potential buyers good luck! Yet I can't help but wonder if this will bring "unwanted" focus towards this forum. Weird sellers who will try to sell all sorts of crap and even weirder record collectors posting irrelevant stuff (like a few we have seen in the past).

Still, there aren't that much action going on here anyways, so perhaps the forum will benefit from the attention. :tiphat:

Best of health to the seller. It's no joy to sell off your prized items, but they do make for a fine savings account in a crisis.

I hope the posting time for each batch will be when most folks in the US, Europe & Australia are awake, if that's at all possible - not at 4:00 AM NY time please!

On second thought, I'd feel OK if most of Europe is asleep when these are posted.

I'll be up all night ;-) Well, actually Spain is not really Europe, whatever that means ha!

I hope that the collector is (or through doctors can be made to be) okay.
I am sure that we will all do our part to steer some money their way!

I don't suppose the seller would take specific wants, would he? Would be one way around the chaos of a feeding frenzy...

The prices won't be low enough to encourage a mad frenzy. There will be moderate bargains, but prices are based on real-world results from what I've seen so far. The seller is not familiar with most of the records, and checking off each of the 1500 records through multiple want-lists would be too much for him.

Which place should I be watching? New here to this community. Thanks!
