I'm almost sure, that looks like his knit tie and all... but whattayooze think? It's earlyish being a fall of '63 mag and the rest of the Stones are doing a no-show. Whoever the guy is, he's looking about 88% more modern than bleach-headed Heinz or the rest! Was there a sale on Bobby Vee's old sweaters that week Righteous Bros. wannabes went to?

Here's a bonus scan from another Pop Weekly of the group featured in Ugly Things #39 (but minus the text part of this page)...

Yes Becca, this is Brian Jones together with then Searcher Tony Jackson, Brian Poole, Patsy Ann Noble, presenter Pete Murray, DJ Tony Hall and Heinz. Probably the second time the Stones appeared on 'Thank Your Lucky Stars', a show that was recorded 30 miles from my home town. Given the date it's likely that The Stones would have performed 'I Wanna Be Your Man'.

Incidentally, although Brian is much more sartorially up-to-date than Heinz, the Stones would never be accepted as Mods in the purist sense. That long hair was never ever a Mod look. Always thought Charlie was the best dresser, probably because of his jazz leanings.

Good to see the clip of Mickey Finn and Co. Somewhere I have a copy of their 'Reelin' and Rockin' on Oriole with an original sleeve signed by the band. 'Pills' is not good even though it's described as Blue Beat ('My Boy Lollipop' was also tagged as Blue Beat).

Ah, thanks! Tony Rivers was good with the Searchers and Castaways. I wonder if the stage was too small for more than one member of the groups. I was thinking it might have been one of those Palladium snub situations. I have an old Lucky Stars book someplace...

I also have one Mod Monthly magazine which mostly tends to confuse me further, but I agree Charlie was a sharp dresser! So was Prince Buster.

There was another early white boy Blue Beat combo with Chris Farlowe in it that was featured in a Decca Originals compilation CD, and then eventually of course we get to Slade with suede heads, eep! :wtf:
