items with ridiculously high starting prices

I am confused by why sellers do this for such high-demand garage records. Why not allow the currently healthy market for rare garage 45s dictate the price? I get re-listing alerts constantly from these types of auctions and can only imagine how many listing fees some of these sellers pay before selling a record. Here's an example:

There's a way to remove certain sellers from your search list. That's how I deal with it. Funk is hardly the worst one. As DS66 says, this has been Funk's MO since they've been on eBay and even his lists going back to the 1980s, although he was a lot cheaper then!
 
Thanks for the intel, guys, especially about the removal of certain sellers. I have a feeling that I could bend over for certain records in a moment of weakness, so may use that tool for self-preservation.

He started the selling; the son took over when he became ill (allegedly). I don't know if collection would be the right word. Inventory is probably more accurate.
As crazy as his prices are, there have been bargains to be found. And his grading may seem crazier than the prices, but he's pretty strict.
But if anyone thinks buying from him is a trip, try selling to him. That's when the real fun starts.
 
He has always worked on the 'buy at market price (or more) and mark it up' principle. I remember when a long time collector sent him a list of his collection - supposedly 'for sale' - with inflated prices - Funk's comments were pretty amusing.....
 
many of the records i wanted, i found for way cheaper than funk's, for example midknights " pain" which i think he wants 300 bucks!


as for selling, one time I put up a copy of mad hatters "route 66" on IGL, and he bought it, it was a normal transaction.

The fun is selling him a lot of 45s privately. He tries to pre-sell as many as possible (at a big profit of course) before paying. When the money is slow coming in, the weekly excuses are fast coming out.
1. My house needs repairs.
2. My car needs repairs.
3. I have my half of the money, but I'm waiting for my partner to com up with his half.
4. My house and his car need repairs.
5. I'm still waiting for my partner to come up with his half of the money. I'll cover him if he doesn't have the money.
6. No, please don't sell the singles to the other people who asked for them. I'll lay out my partner's share and send a check tomorrow.
