June Abdullah had been included in an earlier release by The Cliffters as if she was a full member of the band, whereas in this record The Cliffters appear as her backing band. Meanwhile, unless The Cliffters had a crash course in playing brass instruments, I’d say some session musicians were called in on this occasion. I only include one track from this EP, which features Malay songs based on Western hits. One is a Sandy Shaw song, and another is ‘A Lover’s Concerto’, but what’s this one? More soul/RnB than garage but I like it. It almost sounds like it’s going to turn into ‘Satisfaction, but it doesn’t. Maybe it’s an original. Anis is a man’s name.
