Just gave a quick listen to the new L.O.T.G.P.U. (Volumes 1 & 2) CD and it's out-of-site! Killer selection, killer mastering, killer liners!!! BUY OR DIE tightwads!!! Thanks T. Dubya!!!:yikes:
Ho-Dad Hootenanny Too up next.:sunny:

I totally agree. Have been blasting these during the past two weeks and they are fantastic listens. Both volumes get roughly the same TBM score as the two latest BFTG volumes, but to my ears sound a lot better than what the 5,75 and 6,07 scores indicate (especially vol. 1). These really are great. Below are the numbers.

I prefer these two new Last of The Garage Punk Unknowns than the BFTG's if truth be told... regardless all four LP's eat the shit out of anything else being made in 2015.

The next chapters of "My Travels With Roky". Our travelling record man delivers the goods once again with the magic of the Helikon/Naim/Lynn/Kimber/Krell setup.

Great mix of old friends in superb sound, rarely heard sides & couple great covers including a tribute to the great Mr. James "Shake Your Hips" Moore. Don't forget, most of these bands were essentially cover bands & that is what most teens wanted to hear.

Overtones of The Kinks, the Byrds, & that great "Bo & Jerome beat" turn up along with more than a liberal dose of the Keith Richard / Brian Jones guitar bits from "Empty Heart" & "Grown Up Wrong".

No rock stars here, records made by the guys in your Latin class, the ex-shortstop on your Little League team, the guy who delivers papers & cuts lawns in your neighborhood - Mr. Warren scores yet again with the true sounds of mid-1960s American teenagers. Brilliant fucking stuff !!!

As for "Ho Dad II" - great beer infused slop as usual with a sprinkling of the kinds of bands we often speak of here - The Pastels, B.C & Cavemen, Hotbeats, Beethoven Four & so on. Not to be missed.

Good news is that Mr. Warren is dealing from a stacked deck & the game is not over yet !

Perhaps off topic, but does anyone know why the new BFTG volumes are so hard to come by here stateside?
I am assuming that the L.O.T.G.P.U. are only now coming out, but very few of the usual on-line sellers seem to have the new BFTG volumes in the USA.

I ordered them directly from Crypt.

I'm wearin' a lampshade in homage as Ho-Dad Hootenany Vol 2 is spinnin' round on the hi-fi.
As cool as #1 is, #2 SMOKES.
Really gets the juices flowin' while I am working...

already more on the way

Looks like TW is massively issuing all what's still uncomped and deserves to be. There won't be much left once done, and I suspect that this could also sign the end of an era for Crypt, with not much left worthy to release comp-wise. Or am I wrong, and is actually the well of forgotten / obscure 60s recordings with no bottom ? Apart the 2 recent BFTG vol., the 8 Last of the GPU and the (killer) Hoo Dad vol.2, do you know if there's more and more again planned for release ?

Tim has done a sterling job with all of his Crypt releases.
There are plenty of unreleased '60's Garage tracks out there, and they will be released by Alec P. on Ace/Big Beat.

KILLER!
A bunch of those are complete (unknowns) to me. I can't wait to own every single one of these. The first two are great! That cover of "What In The World" is AMAZING!!! Probably my favorite cut so far on this new series.

I guess I'll have to wait until Vol's 5 and 6 to hear The Torments on (Amway). I'm seriously wondering what that one sounds like considering that it was planned for BFTG 9.

I'm also glad that "All Is Gone" by The Shade is being included in good sound quality. I can't even remember anymore what comp that was on, but it sounded terrible...

Also, am I wrong, or did TIM try and hide a SKIP-DEFECT on that acetate by The Other Side?

There are scant few uncomp'd 45s out there worthy of being booted or reissued. Just look thru TBM - almost everything rated 6 or higher has been recycled somewhere on vinyl or CD. Given the fact that the majority of people who still listen to this stuff complain and whine about mediocre sides, there is little reason to soend time and effort issuing songs rated lower than a 6. While diehards may enjoy songs rated lower in TBM, the majority will not - they only want the "Best stuff". The bar has been raised too high to allow for inferior comps. Random blogs are better served to present your favorite array of TBM rated 3s.

Today, the new frontier is unissued material hidden and buried on tapes, and one-of-a-kind acetates. Not 45s.
The Norton 5 LP series of unissued acetates is a must-have, the material is excellent. Each volume could easily be under a Back From The Grave series banner.
