looking for a copy of power-children ask if god is dead on showplace.

Can we all agree that they do not sing "God is dead" on this here little rekkid? Or is there a difference between stock and dj Showplace? Because I don´t hear it on the Showplace nor the MGM release

They don't on either version. it's always "Children ask if he is dead". The last chorus has the line "Now that our war god has been fed", which may cause some confusion..

I was listening on one of my CD-r comps. I thought it was the Showcase version which I used to have in my collection, but it then had to have been the MGM version I also had. (Which means I forgot to burn the Showcase. Oh fuck!)

no i just listened to it on youtube, they say god is dead

Yeah, but there is no God is dead line on the Showplace 45. I listened closely after having read some YouTube comment about this some time ago. Isn´t ClearLight a member on here? Maybe he can shed some light on this.

That´s my photographs by the way! Had not seen this video before.

you need to go have your ears checked cause the children ask if god is dead is in the song. from clearlight's posting on youtube

You need to read what I write. I have both the Showplace and MGM pressing. The line is altered to "Children ask if HE is dead" on both of them. If the YouTube clip exists at all on a physical format it must be an acetate. Unless an "uncensored" Showplace 45 exists.

well the one grey newell posted sure sounds like god is dead. find it on youtube

I´m not deaf Ed, I can hear them sing "God is dead". But that´s not how the actual, physical, 45 sounds. So it must be an outtake, or pre-censorship Showplace release. If such a thing exists.

Sorry, only just noticed this. The Showplace 45 does feature the line God Is Dead, I have the Showplace 45 and used it for the video I placed on Youtube.

That's strange. I can't hear any God is dead at all on my Showplace copy. Maybe two different pressings exist? I'll check again but I seem to recall comparing the video and both Showplace and MGM the last time very thoroughly.

I'll be happy if there are three versions, that means there's one I am missing! The Showplace 45 I have is a promo. BTW Mr.Segment is there any chance you can upload the handwritten bio scans you got with the photos? (PS Did I not ask you if it was OK to use the photos in vid? I usually seek permission before I do that sort of thing.)

Not a problem at all using the photos. After all I'm only looking after them until I get old and move them along again! Sure, I can re-up the handwritten pages. I'll get around to it later today.

Btw, what's the matrix code on your Showplace copy?

I'll dig through the boxes and find it and post details here. I'm hoping to be in contact with a band member at some point, maybe we can solve the mystery then!
