The Lost Souls Volume 3 CD is out now. More info HERE

This looks really good. The two other volumes have had some real monsters on them. Looking forward to this! I also suggest Mike S. of Ugly Things re-reads his review of volume two and take another listen to the Modds take included;)

Thanks, yeah I have heard some moaning about the second half of the Vol 2 disc, but I really liked the cuts although many were stretching the accepted sound of garage and psych a bit far for some I guess. Volume 3 takes a slightly different direction, so let me know what you think. I'm still stunned that I was able to locate the Modds tape in Arkansas. I'm happy to provide some insight into this elusive monster. Plus more monsters to come!:D

Just listened to LOST SOULS Volume 3...Great stuff!!! If you're strictly garage or psych, this may not entirely be your bag. While there is some nice Garage tracks, you really need to have an open mind and be into a cross section of cool 6ts rockers and a few covers. If you want a snapshot of an era ...then this cd's for you. Some nice surprises too. Good goin' Harold;)

I completely agree with Joey. In my opinion, the Bar Boys track is alone worth the cost of the package. It's a great collection of varied sounds, with cool photos and excellent liner notes. "Fouke Monster, Fouke Monster, Fouke Monster!" Another classic. I'm looking forward to the second spin.

The crude remakes issued only on acetates are above average, not pedestrian at all. The Culls version of "Susie Q" especially.
Just about everything here qualifies as garage (a bunch are already logged in TBM). If you limit your listening preferences to Back From The Grave quality only, your loss...ace job, Mr. O!

Thanks, to my ears most of the tracks fall under the garage category. I guess it depends on how strictly you define garage, but I opt for a broader view. I wanted to present a portrait of the Arkansas scene in the 60s, including a mix of various sounds that all have a garage or teen-beat element. Here's a pic of the Culls. Their version of Susie Q was recorded in a basement with a reel to reel at rehearsal. The band then took the tape to Jaggars Recording Studio in Little Rock to cut the acetate. Susie Q was recorded in 1965, before their "Midnight to Six Man" 45 on MY Records which featured a different singer.
