Lost Sounds Montana, Vol. 1

I believe that my proposed three volume set - "The History of the New Vaudeville Band" - could be the book Joey is talking about I can take the heat - when you uncover controversial new facts like I did - such as Tommy Hall demanding that the Elevators listen to the NVB while taking LSD - and in volume 2, subtitled "The NVB and the roots of Hip-Hop" I disclose how Kool Herc wore out numerous NVB records in his early DJ gigs. Volume 3, still in the early stages, will be called "The NVB - first Indie Rock band"

Can I pre-order that? I'll take the $1,000 DJ party option if you have one!

That's good. I was worried it was my book, "Kazoology - How The Kazoo Changed 60s Garage Rock Forever". But now I know it can't be, thank goodness.

The fuzz box was definitely the kazoo for 60's garage teens no argument there. I just wish those teens did not cave in to technology because the kazooist are now nearly an extinct species and protected by law in many parts of thee world.

As for project Montana - I have no problem, unlike frantic, with covers if great. I have no problem with beggars as long as they are not jumping into their Mercedes parked around the corner and quaffing champagne from a brown bag. But I ain't giving you money I have family to feed. but wish them luck because they seem to have collected a lot of info at least of their local 60's scene.

I can't believe the proliferation of these give us money to record an album from bands to "fans" more like family and friends. if you are that crap to not get some interest from even a tiny indie label to fund yourrecording you are probably too crap to deserve a release?

NOPE...Not even close. This book came out in the last 6 months. I sure hope at least 10 people demand I tell them the name so I can save them $20. It is so unbelievably bad. :flush:

What's the name of the book, Joey?

If Tim Warren had 25 unreleased/unknown garage punkers and he was in a iron lung and he had no money and he started this type of program to release a new GRAVE, I would gladly give him the money.;) And buy him booze.

Tim Warren has NO money. He sold of 90% of his garage 45s to keep Crypt going. He just spent $1000 yesterday to buy the reel to reel master of Rogues / Squires unreleased songs. and he'll have to pay additional monies for royalties and such.
Sales of these comps barely depletes a pressing of 500, let alone 1000.

I know how funding works, Chris. The people providing the funds should get back their donation amount plus a fair profit / return on their investment. That's what i did. If you look at the page for the Montana comp project, the donation amount "returns" are not worth the investment, especially the larger donation amounts.

As I've stated before (I guess I gotta do so again before people try to twist my agenda, not surprising given the political notions of most people here...) I am not against the project. Their focus toward donations is too vast. Get the comp out first, then worry about some grand design to house the stuff for public viewing. and even that doesn't fly...ask Jeff L down in Florida. He set up a really cool exhibit on south Florida garage, and it was tuff to keep it going via public interest.

Anything Timmie touches doesn't turn to gold...it's already gold!!! YAY TIMMIE!!!:yikes:

If the Sonics do a cover...I'm in...If some unknown band from Montana does one...well...........Do ya get me?

Well, The Nightraiders acetate do have covers of Psychotic Reaction and some Seeds song. Welcome additions in my book, regardless of how it's funded. I'm ok with $50 for two copies of the album + a t-shirt but I would like to know at least some of the planned tracks. Ain't too interested in greaser sounds or the likes of the horrible Chosen Few on B.F.D.

So far we have the NIGHTRAIDERS covers acetate, (I'm assuming) lame/boring versions of YOU KEEP ME HANGING ON and TICKET TO RIDE, a really bad surf instro, probably a cool Initial Shock song or 3 that have already been released elsewhere, hopefully no Chan Romero which has also been out elsewhere. So why can't the Montana guys fill in the blanks. C'mon guys...ball's in your court. Make us happy.

I`ve posted about 2 45s that they have that none of you "experts" seem to have heard, including a post Missing Lynx one, both with original a and b sides. Pay attention and stop being endlessly negative! And what`s the name of that dagummed book???

There's a difference of being negative and being real. All I'm asking for is a track listing and then everybody can make up their own mind's.
also I don't always see every post, so let's get one master list going, so far it's still mostly covers. 6 to go on the book unvailing.

I think you`re being kinda "ultra real" then...and isn`t that 4 to go ;) ?
