Magnifiers

I have carried a magnifying glass similar to this in my fob pocket since 1982, every single day. I wouldn't leave home without it, it goes wherever I go. I use it primarily for examining print quality, but it's also handy for stylus examination and many other things. It doesn't have a light though.

I just tried it, and yes you can. At least, enough to see that the grooves take up about 30% of the surface area. You can also see much of the dirt, as well as the scratches and their severity.

In the 90's I saw a classical collector pull out a tiny magnifier to spend 5+ minutes looking over an RCA Living Stereo I was selling at a show. It was one used in the garment industry to check the micro weaves of textiles.
