I've read on Facebook that Max Waller has passed away after a short illness, on Wednesday June 1, aged 67. I don't know much about Max personally, but we corresponded about '60s garage bands for years. Many forum members are familiar with his contributions to Vernon Joynson's Fuzz, Acid & Flowers Revisited, Psychedelic States, and my own site Garage Hangover. I will miss him.

I also read the news and like you, Chris, communicated with Max for years—probably 25 or so. He was an invaluable resource and someone who was always willing to help. I’ll miss him too.

Max has been my good friend for many years now, he lived not far from me and we often got together to chat about garage and psych and collaborated on many projects along the way. He was a very kind and generous soul and his passing is a great loss to the world. I will be doing my best to preserve all of Max's copious research for the future so that his efforts will not be lost. RIP.
