No they are not three of Snow White's lesser jolly dwarves. I'm talking teenage trauma.

If you wonder why I make these amounts of light-weight threads, it is because I can backtrack cool stuff later after I have forgotten about 'em.

So here I'm planning to post some of my favorite downer ballads and other depressing music from the 60s garage canon.

First out, we have The Next Step's Rivers Of Hate:

Thanks Michael W for the awesome vid, and thanks Frantic for making it available on the excellent Up From The Grave comp.

Another stunning piece of teenage trauma is this shocker. Jesus & Mary Chain never did get it right, did they?

The Mauve - You Got Me Cryin'

Thanks Mikael for reminding me.

Sooo much better than the already killer track by the Fantastic Dee-Jays. Be prepared for supreme crudeness!

The Creations - Love Is Tuff

Blue, blue feeling's got me down..ah, young love! The drama! The passion! The blue feelings! I do not miss that shit. But it makes for good listening.
This is the flip of the savage snot-fest Can't Tame Me and it looks like that didn't turn out so great for the untamable Benders.

The Benders - Got Me Down

First heard this on the intensely depressive forum comp put together by Jeff Lemlich - the mighty Jeff's Moody Monsters! (pm me if you need to d-load it)

So thanks Jeff, and thanks Westex for unknowingly supplying me with the label scan!

The Sounds Of Night - Sorrow

Curious to see where the Next Step 45s will rank on the updated G1000 list. While there (apparently) have been a couple of Graveyard 5s turning up in recent years, I'm not aware of a single copy of "I Said No" or "I've Got Power To Fly" having been found/offered. Mr. Frantic?

Barry W had an extra Next Step "I Said No" that went in an auction last year.

He's had an off condition copy of "I've Got Power To Fly" which may have sold by now.

I have copies of both singles.
