Music saved my life

Today I spent hours and hours listening and enjoying great garage 45's, with many thanks to Mark! I also watched a tv special about child abuse and it brought back alot of childhood memories. I was reduced to feeling like a nothing thanks but no thanks to my abusive dad.

Then I came across music and it literally saved my life. Four albums stand out and they still do, Genesis-From Genesis To Revelation, Love-Forever Changes, Kate Bush-The Kick Inside and New England Teen Scene volume one. They helped me survive all the shit.

The reason I post this is to warn people about child abuse. Don't let it happen!!

I understand this may sound like a strange post at best but hey it is all so wrong and I don't feel ashamed writing about it, on the contrary.

Funny you should say that Jim, because on several occasions I have found myself saying that '60s garage has saved my life. Not for a specific reason per se, but more generally, from all the shit.

There is no acceptable excuse for child abuse
(and all pedophiles should be dismembered).
1966 was a 'rough' year at my house...but the
greatest year for garage bands on U.S. radio.
I made it through in one piece, thank God.

Thank you all for your heartening replies and it's also sad to hear there are more G45 members out there who suffered a not so nice childhood thanks (NOT) to their fathers.

Sharing all this on this fabulous site makes me realise this is where I belong and that we are all one big family! If only the Vagrants had this site to look at when they were around...
