Feedback, opinions on this compilation. Buy or not buy?
Alot of this stuff is out elsewhere in better quality....If you are a completeist like me and also want the best quality, buy every Bear Family comp (most songs from master tapes) then buy every Buffalo Bop comp you can find and then fill in the blanks.
Add Ace's RAB comps to the short list - mastertape sound and excellent liners.
Anything Ace touches is great but they are not a Rockabilly label (although they have some rockabilly releases) I was just saying "Bear Family & the Buffalo Bop series are a great place to start if you wanna start building a Rockabilly collection in top quality and quantity.![]()
When they hit those howlin' hillbillies Ace does a bang up job - they're easy to pick up as well. Wish they'd put out more of those RAB comps as they've been combing through the Gusto catalog of King and Starday/Dixie. Bear hasn't done much with those labels for the most part, and there's a lot of goodies to be had.[/quote
