No-brainer top-shelf garage from Europe (and beyond..?)

Here's one of my favorite German 45s. I had a chance to film a clip when making a video of the Steadfasts' cool 45. Nice cover art. Great monicker, too!

And another Dutch language 45. Actually Het had their own language and were perhaps the personification of pop-art. The title of this is their own language and translates as roughly "can you go there?" or "can you imagine?"

Woa, never seen or heard of that 45 before Soundog and I pride myself on knowing about Dutch 45s. Have you got any noise to go with the picture?.

Beautiful Dutch beat, ahhhhhhh, nothing better in my opinion. I remeber it now as I bought every 'Biet Het' I could find. Thanks for reminding me how good this is, I now need the 45.

Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but this is slightly different to the run of the mill UK beat and has a fuzz riff that could cut through granite.

And taking the intensity down a notch, this is a great Byrdsish 45. They later recorded as Empty Vessels for an equally great but more psych 45 that I don't think has been compiled yet.

Another mellower one by a band that were a little behind the times perhaps, but I think their average age was 14 or something and it's such a nice breezy tume I can forgive them

I like a few of the Katch-22 singles. Their LP is disappointing by comparison, but has a few decent soft pop tunes.

Yes, they were a bit hit and miss. Their LP looks pretty cool in a pop-art kind of a way, a bit like some shots of the Stone Roses, but it is pretty straight 60s pop, nice enough. They had some other nice 45 sides, you're right, but also some clunkers. There was a sound clip of an acetate version of "Major Catastrophe" knocking around and I think the band were known as "Catch 4" or something on it. I'll see if I can find it and if it's different I'll post it up.

"Major Catastrophe" is pretty special. It is a favorite and reminds me of Kaleidoscope (U.K. band). Somehow I only discovered that band a few years ago but they have a bunch of amazing songs (many on 45). One lp cut I salivate over is "Dive Into Yesterday".

UK Kaleidoscope were great, though I find their later 45s too syrupy and banal. Both their LPs are great. Dive Into Yesterday actually also came out on a very rare Dutch only 45 which was effectively a reissue of their debut Flight From Ashiya in a new sleeve with a different B side. Why the 45 got issued twice in Holland I have no idea, perhaps to coincide with a tour they were doing or something.
