For this Nuggets League Shootout, I picked 25 US bands from the garage era who made a strong push for commercial acceptance. Generally all these bands released at least a handful of 45s and an LP, with a couple of exceptions. I did not include bands which continued on to further success in a different style, such as Love, Byrds, McCoys, Young Rascals, Turtles, Beau Brummels, Bob Seger or Golliwogs. All the bands selected burned brightly in the garage, then burned out. All of them could have been included on Nuggets, as many of them were...

Due to the large number of choices, please select your top 5 from the list. If there's any interest, I might make a second poll to narrow down the winner from the top 10.

The first three choices were a snap, fourth not so much but the fifth was TORTURE !

Not garage necessarily bar a track or two but if the Left Banke were included my fifth pick would have been in the bag.

Mouse was my fifth pic based solely on " Maid Of Sugar, Maid Of Spice".

That's all it took, edging out the Barbarians " Hey Little Bird" by a feather...

As an aside I just read in "Astral Weeks", an overview of Boston circa 1968 that 'twas the Hawks backing up Victor Moulton on "Moulty". Yes, THOSE Hawks.

Seriously? No Nightcrawlers???? They woulda absolutely been in my top 5 easily edging out Blues Magoos

But my two worst mistakes were not including the Chocolate Watch Band or Remains.
So - I have added those 3 bands at the bottom of the poll listing. I have also allowed one extra vote, for a total of 6 votes per customer. You can change all or some of your votes as well, if you wish (click the "Change Vote" button)

I definitely wanted to add both Watch Band and Remains as my 6th choice. The tough part wasn't choosing which of the two to add, but which of my original choices to remove so I could add both.
