First time longtime here...

Wondering if anybody knew about the group here:

Disclosure: this my listing. I've listed a few other times, and not really gotten much info from anybody. I'm not too concerned about $ or value here. I'm happy to sit on this one because I dig dig dig it. Audio link in the listing. Be sure to check out both sides. Some pretty good stuff.

The record is not a release from the 1960s.

The pressing was manufactured at Wakefield in Arizona. Sometime in the early 1970s, Wakefield began printing their in-house master number directly on the 45rpm labels, whereas before during the 60s, the master number was only hand-etched in the vinyl deadwax / trail-out area of the 45.

#17605 is the Wakefield pressing number, and based upon the research i have accumulated for my "dead wax code" compendium, the Stonehenge 45 was issued around March, 1972. Of course, that doesn't imply it not being any good, or worthy of interest; I think it is pretty good.

The copyright also confirms my research; the A side was submitted for copyright:

THE COUNTRY'S WHERE I'VE GOT TO TAKE MY
MIND; w & m Mike Norris (Michael R.
Norris) 1 p. © Michael R. Norris;
8Feb72; EU3IOO67

Nothing found for the "King Snake" side.

Thought the name rang familiar for the A side songwriter, so I did some quick checking in my copyright archive file - Michael R. Norris was a member of the Sidewinders during the 1966-68 time frame. They have a pair of 45s issued on the Look label, based out of Nashville, Tennessee.
The Sidewinders spent a lot of time playing up in Colorado, and according to some old newspaper articles, the band stayed there for months at a time, and returned to Albuquerque, New Mexico for recording.

Wow! You guys are good! Thanks for the info. Neither side is gonna shake up the musical world, but my searching failure was frustrating me to no end. Here I was Google mapping addresses and trying to post to the "Forks, NM" Facebook page... shoulda dropped by here sooner!

Sorry to say that I'm no longer a record collector (as to making purchases) , but I can appreciate a good tune or two. Just wanted to say thanks for providing the sound clips. The songs were quite diverse, but like both for different reasons. I wish more music from around 1972 sounded this good. Thanks again for sharing!

Of course! Especially if it makes 1972 a little bit brighter!
