Obvious rip-offs

Both of these tracks bear an uncanny resemblance to the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction"

Londons - Old Man (A Thing Of Age)
Warden & His Fugitives - The World Ain't Changed

You could also fill a whole topic with "Hey Joe" sound-alikes.
And don't get me started on "Bo Diddley" or "Louie Louie..."

you're right, I should have mentioned EXCEPT Louie Louie/Hang On Sloopy/Money/Diddley beat song
and Los Shakers/los Mockers' songs

You could also fill a whole topic with "Hey Joe" sound-alikes.
And don't get me started on "Bo Diddley" or "Louie Louie..."

Not to mention the "Gloria" sound-alikes, of which The Uniques "You Ain't Tuff" and Silver Fleet's "Look Out World" are among the most obvious.

To my ears, there is no more blatant theft on record than "Go" by the Young Men, from Arizona. A complete 100% theft of "I'm Thinking" by the Dave Clark Five
How about Sands 'Open Your Eyes'? So unoriginal that its ranking in the G list baffled me at first!

Fight Fire - The Golliwogs has that riff ripped from G-L-O-R-I-A.
yep, their Brown Eyed Girl sound like it too ; You'd Better Be Careful sounds like She's Not There, Little Girl is Beach Boys-esque, Don't Tell Me No Lies is Beatl-esque, Call It Pretending is Four Tops-esque... great band though!

lotsa tunes sound like You Really Got Me or All Day & All of the Night; i.e. the Bryds' Your Lies

It's a completely different idea to cite a song as ...-esque. Every song can be patterned after something else. Those Golliwogs tracks are no different than any other examples.
We're talking about blatant copies, and none of their tunes are carbon copies of the titles you mentioned. "Fight Fire" does not sound like "Gloria"

I was disgressing because I don't think it's so common to hear so many obvious references in one band's music.

I'm Rowed Out/Can't Explain, does it count? ;)

Old hat for all, but I was recently made aware of the similarities between "I'm Crying" by the Animals and "I'm Gone" by the Continentals (Gaylo).

Does anyone know the recording dates of the RS' 2120 Sth MI Av.
and the Baskerville Hounds' Space Rock?
and then, who ripped off who?
thanks!

I think The Haunted "borrowed" liberally from "Midnight Hour" when they put together. "1-2-5"

Ned

It isn't even the same chord progression? "Midnight Hour" has like two chords? Or maybe we're just hearing it different.

Round Robin - I'm The Wolf Man blatantly steals the riff from Off The Hook . Also always thought that the Curfews - Look At Me is probably "inspired" by I'm Crying from the Animals
