Has anyone ever heard or owned this monstrous 67 Detroit acetate? I can't really post a link but the Instagram user little.dannys.records has a clip of it up and, oh my. 8 or 9 level TBM heavy Detroit garage sound, sorta very early MC-5ish.

I understood that the band cut two songs at this session, and the other side is an original called "Down, Down." A friend who was their informal roadie can still play it on the guitar, and it sounds like a pretty heavy two-chord punker. Who owns the acetate? Is the other side indeed "Down, Down," and if so is it playable?

And yes it's the same Ann Arbor-based band. Managed by Jeep Holland, there is a photo in the liners of "A2 (Of Course)" Unfortunately it appeared that there were no recordings of them when that was put together by Ace.

My friend Dan found it at the Austin Record Convention 15 or 16 years ago. "Down, Down" is on the flip. I recall the flip being super distorted (and not in a good way). Not sure if he's inclined to record/share, but I'll ask.

OMG that would be fantastic. Even a super distorted copy would be good to hear. Thank you! I have some ephemera on them I can post when I get my scanner hooked back up - their business card, a couple other things.

Here is a page in Jeep Holland's handwriting listing their setlist ca late '67. Hendrix played the Fifth Dimension in Ann Arbor that August (the week his first LP came out in the US), thus several tunes by him are included. Almost every local musician I've talked to was there, and many spoke with him before/after - he made a huge impression here.

Thank you for posting this! "Down Down" is a killer! Such a bummer that it is fried like that, but for it to surface in any shape at this late date is quite amazing. I am sure he'll get a pretty penny for it, I'll be watching....

I won Dan’s Hidden acetate. I likely overpaid for a fair record that skips but it’s an unknown group from the Chicago area so it falls right into my collecting focus.
