PJ Proby and Vernon Girls om British telly

If you ever run across The Shadows with a Lulu type girl singer let me know. It was part of some film rather than telly and I'd love to see and hear it again.

Actually I've had a hard time warming up to any Proby music, not sure why. The stories Kim Fowley related (Ugly Things and elsewhere) are pretty entertaining however (Brian Jones stealing his cat being the least of them).

hi beccabear,
sorry but no clue on the Shadows w/ girl singer (I'd love to see/hear the outcome too tho'...)
as for PJ, sure he's recorded a lot of shit, but this vid poves he sure knew how to belt it out, didn't he (try with his version of Let the Water Run down, my favorite since the 60s!)
... and speaking of another controversial genius of the 6os and the most hilarious stories, I don't remember the Brian Jones' episode, tho' Kim's "spiritial sessions" with the wire attached to a light bulb is my fave story of them all....!

It's probably just finding the right place to start or point of entry with Proby; I do like some of the early 45 sides under various names. It took some Autumn demos and one Scorpio single to finally get me genuinely worked up about the Grateful Dead. :)

.. someone teached me that even Frank Sinatra would be of high esteem if you listen to his very first recordings... (but the Greatful Dead? let's say it in Reg Presley's own words: Oh Noooooo!!!)
