R.I.P. Michael Brown of the Left Banke

Michael Brown passed away. He wrote or co-wrote many of their songs: "Walk Away Renee", "Pretty Ballerina", "Lazy Day", "She May Call You Up Tonight", "I've Got Something on My Mind", "Desiree" and others.

He also wrote "Love Songs in the Night" and "Two By Two" released under Steve Martin's name on the Hot Pants soundtrack in '71, which was basically a Left Banke reunion.

Plus his work with Montage and Stories.

Very sad. The guy was a brilliant song writer.

Definitely a loss. 'Walk Away Renee', 'She May Call You Up Tonight' and 'I've Got Something on My Mind' are all-time favorites.

Never really listened to the Left Banke properly before. It wasn't my cup of tea when I briefly played the records years ago, but now, I see the light.
