R-O-C-K-A-B-I-L-L-Y

I found this when I was in high school. Great band!
It turns out the drummer,Miriam not only played with these guys and the A-Bones, she also played with the Cramps too. I think she is part of the driving force behind Norton Records if I remember correctly.....
I think the singer is her "significant other" & also the singer for the A-Bones(?)

Ya got me on a roll now........sorry:rolleyes:
Made me think about it while I was thinking about Norton Records, and rockabilly all together.
My favorite Esquerita song.... and it's a Buddy cover!

A few more favorites :

R. D. Hendon - Big Black Cat
Hoyt Scoggons - Tennessee Rock
Bobby Sisco - Tall Dark & Handsome Man
Rock Rogers - Little Rock Rock
Mack Banks - Be-Boppin' Daddy
Lattie Moore - Juke Joint Johnny
Curley Griffin - Got Rockin' On My Mind
Pico Pete - Hot Dog

Miriam indeed is half of The Norton Dynamic Duo - wonder if she peeks in at this most esteemed hangout...

Killer break by Joe Bennett on The Sparkletones' Black Slacks:

L-I-V-E Sparkletones on Nat King Cole's show (note the matching Strats):

Later Sparkletones tv appearance - note the increased intensity/confidence the band has (slap bass fans will love this):

Gene Vincent /w the mighty Cliff Gallup serving up two stinging breaks!
Cool live clip of the same

Double header from Illinois - G. "Davy" Crockett's ultra fine Look Out Mable came out on Chief in 1958:

Jump ahead to 1965 - Mr. Crockett gets some airplay with the R&B Top 10 It's a Man Down There on Four Brothers - Chess Records leases an alternate take of Look Out Mabel and puts the name G.L. Crockett on the label:

Both takes are great - the guitar man randomly plinks and plunks away until it's solo time - the pedal gets pushed to the metal...

Norton put out a lot of Charlie Feathers and Hasil Adkins who are really good rockabilly artists. Kicks magazine used to be really entertaining, especially the little margin word balloons! I wish they'd bring it back (or maybe they didn't and I'm too out of it).

Dale Hawkins and Eddie Bond are definitely worth checking out too. I can't listen to anything else for awhile now because of this thread, I keep remembering songs and wanting to dig them out, like I just had to hear Little Jimmy Dickens' I Got A Hole In My Pocket again!

Sadly, Kicks seems to be on a permanent hiatus - those rags flipped me out when I ran across them...

Yeah Charlie Feathers! Norton has released a buncha real good 45s w/ early takes etc. Their Sun series is a good way to get great sounding rare sides for cheap also.
Here's a coupla all time faves(with killer guitar breaks etc):
