Anyone here ever had luck finding interesting stuff in Morocco ? Were thr standards - Rollin' Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds, Animals, Them & so on ever issued there ? Any shops or good medina locations to recommend?

My thanks -
Ned

There's an interesting comp series called 'Waking Up Scherazade' which i think might include some Morroccan garage or psych rock tunes alogn with stuff from Iran, Lebanon, and other parts of the Middle East. And the awesome Radio Diffusion Internassionaal Annexe website has a buncha rips of excellent rock records from Morrocco too, like the great mover 'Mriza' by Les Golden Hands :

For anyone out there lookin for some seriously wild/different takes on 60's/Vietnam era teenbeat and folk pop, Radio Diffusion is very highly recommended, it's organized by country/nation and it is super comprehensive (i.e., even Mongolia and Brunei both have multiple entries). Radio Diffusion is to lo-fi music from off-the-beaten-path countries what Garage Hangover is to teenbeat and psych from the US/UK/Europe /etc.

Never seen a record shop there on the few trips I had (though my Mum once found me a Shocking Blue LP in some street market, but an import). There is a couple of places listed on the Discogs page though https://vinylhub.discogs.com/
There are a few cool records from there, most hard to find like the great Fadoul 45s, but I dig Bob Jalil Polydor EP which ain't expensive to find on line.

Thanks everyone - I searched high & low and hardly saw a record of any type. Also hoped to find vintage tubes with no luck at all. Morocco was a great place to visit, however !

There's a record store in Agadir called Zaman that was pretty cool when i last went there. Not sure if it's still around tho.
