RIP Patrick Lundborg

I had but one or two pm exchanges with the Lama over the years, but was always struck by his grasp and articulation of American culture. The cat was on a WHOLE 'nother level.

The Acid Archives changed the direction of my collecting/listening/bathroom reading habits.
Yeah, he went deep into areas untouched by most. His IA & elevators checklists alone have been fuel for my librarian checklist mentality. Hopefully his book on psychedelics will not have a similar effect (collect em all!)

Don Julio Quote/The "Texas Psych Group" is essentially the "Rush Limbaugh Show" of psych fandom. They hated the Lama because he was infinitely more knowledgable and articulate on the subject than they will ever be. They hated Paul Drummond because he actually did the hard work (and shouldered the huge expense) it took to actually do proper research on the band and get proper reissues out, when all those wankers could ever hope to achieve were CD-Rs of records bought from eBay and endless recycling of the same old myths. /close Quote

Spot on. There is a lot of hate on that site...it's actually more like the
"Randi Rhodes Show" of psych fandom than old El Rushbo. I stopped
going there many moons ago before they even started in on trashing
our British and Swedish allies and their quite admirable work ethic.

Does anyone know any details about his death? We chatted frequently on FB and I had no idea of any illness at the time of his passing.

Nothing known yet... it will probably take some time. My guess is that it was something sudden. There was no warning whatsoever. I was at the funeral this Friday and it was a beautiful ceremony with family and a few close friends.

Nearly moved to tears about this.
I remember Patrick the Lama from the old garagepunk forum
His generosity will not be forgotten.
I'll never forget how quickly he responded to a request for the Bachs original LP rip.
And his website is an invaluable resource
RIP old man.

I still want to see the pictures from Walt Andrus Studios at the time of Easter Everywhere that the Lama had!
