RIP Randy Nauert

Randy Nauert of the Challengers passed away earlier today. Randy had a beautiful home in the Santa Barbara hills, including a studio , other out buildings , and a large host of animals including Peacocks, Sheep, Goats, alpacas, ostriches, horses, ect .. his "Zen Zoo" ; all which perished in the large Wolsey fire in 2018. Randy played bass for the Challengers, an early and influential surf band including Richard Delvy.

Sorry to hear of Randy's death and recent tragic bad luck with the fire. The Challengers' records are fantastic, especially Surfbeat and K39.

Randy was frequently on Facebook and answered many of my questions about the Challengers and the Teen-Age Fairs. He came across as an extremely likable guy. I’m very saddened to learn of his passing.
