I should have kept watching - jump to 34:00 and catch The Electric Prunes lipsynching I Had Too Much as well.

Pet Clark has never animated a dance floor like that before or after this episode. YT has an AB clip with a Capt. Beefheart call-in. In each case the teen girls are solemn during the on-air questions but smiling happily into the phone when the kids are dancing and the conversation continues off-air. Also nice to see the Prunes in their mod phase. Best for me was the high rating for the Wordd 45 and the kids filling the dance floor. Can only assume Vandan Records didn't have the payola budget to capitalize on this. Another muso who worked for Vandan told me that later in '67 he went over to the label owner's home and it was empty. Dude had blown town never to be heard from again.
