I Just Think Of You, is that a great song or what? Only a 5 in TBM, but it deserves a 7 or 8 IMO.
Does anyone have a label scan of this 'no label' 45?

A song like, say (off the top of my head), Any Old Time by The Classmen is 'pretty good'.
This is definitely great! :)

What about this one? The Mojos on Mojo I think should have been rated better than 6 imo, which is not bad for a slow song, but we are going to see a lot of this because it's a matter of taste. I think they were right about the Shambles imo as i did not like that one. Even Mike rated some a lot differently than the rating team, so that goes to show there are going to be more disagreements between other collectors with varying tastes in music. All that being said I think that was monumental task to rate all of those songs.

Along similar lines, Mike, what was the minimum rating it took for a record to be placed in the top 1000? I noticed in one of your replies you had a rating of a song in the 2000 range. Is it possible to get a list of all records? Maybe the next book you could give each record their ranking next to the title. Looking forward to the next book with all the corrections with limited late additions.

The song at #1000 rated as a 6.846

And, yes, the 2nd book will show the vote tabulations in descending order for every song we rated, plus additional songs which were not rated in time for the TBM deadline.

These examples of "I think the song is a 7 or better, but TBM shows it as a 5" is a perfect example of why the consensus voting method works perfectly. If you read my chapter, "Afterthoughts" I address this very topic.
The TBM ranking shows the true validity of a song's worth. Sometimes, a song might be off by one rating upward, or lower, but I'm quite pleased overall, especially as you go to the 7 and higher ranting numbers. Of course, everyone has a different perspective, which is why I did not opt to just go with my own personal preferences. No one cares what I think - interested people always prefer to see what the knowledgeable crowd thinks regarding a song's impact value.

;) Cabinet members who gave '1' for 'Bitter Bells' have (for me) pretty much 'wrecked' the scoring exercise.

Those marks should have been chucked straight in the bin...it's a joke giving '1' for that song....get back to spinning your rockabilly and hillbilly records...

Nobody voted the song Bitter Bells as a "1"

You read / decipher the tally results as follows:

first number - the rating
second number - the amount of voters who cast that rating.

someone voted "Bitter Bells" a 3. And he's a member of the G45 forum (not me..I gave it a 6.)

The Mojos 'Love Does It's Harm' is genius as it is.
BUT...imagine that song with pure pop Byrds like harmonies and tambourine.

I have the Shambles 45 - it has a tinny harsh sound that detracts a lot from the song which IMO is a bit above average at best (the flip side is a throwaway instrumental). One of the band members fathers had a studio in their home of Lima, OH that was for making industrial film productions, it was not a real music recording studio. I would rate it a 5 (just checked TBM - we agree!). I have a Nite Watchmen acetate recorded at the same place and it has the same sound - a shame as a couple of the NW songs are pretty good, possibly better than the 45s.
