Sorry, about that. "Cackalack" is slang for "Carolina" as in North Carolina, where I'm posting from! Certainly no Texas level scene here, but some respectable entries into the garage/psych pantheon came outta the Old North State.
Good description of the LP. Eastern NC was/is a little behind the curve which probably explains the band sounding more '67 than '69.
On the topic of NC, the great recent reissue of The Horde acetate has given me some kicks. No Justice-level romps on this one, these Duke kids were definitely with the times ala their covers of Love and the Blues Project.
Not to worry...there's a place here in Portland called Cackalack's chicken shack, that explains a lot, thanks! While I have no roots in that area, I do love music from there, as a matter of fact I recently joined a great FB group that many others from here participate in that's devoted to the area, there's been some mighty cool stuff posted on there lately!
