Spectrun five-all psyched out

imho, it wouldn't be surprising to find out that The Ides had Marylanders and Delaware kids playing together, the two tiny states are super close to each other and share alotta ties in terms of music venues/vacation spots/overall cultural ties (i.e., most people i've met from the Elkridge/Chespeake City, Md. area regularly went to concerts and other social events in Wilimington and Newark; Ocean City, Md. and the Delaware beaches attract generally the same demographic crowds, tho O.C. seems to attract more teens)

Re: Ides, about 15 minutes of newspaper digging found that Franz/Frank Nachod was from around Smyrna, DE and that Kim York was living in Dover, DE, although I don't know if he lived there at the time. Franz passed away in 2019. As pointed out by folks who are a lot closer there than I, that part of Delaware is a few miles from the MD/DE border and probably closer to Baltimore than Philly

I chatted with Kim York the other day. He knew about the band, but was not in it.
The liner notes are wrong as far as he's concerned.

The small Md. cities of Elkridge (far northeast Md. in Cecil County), Havre De Grace (a port town in Cecil), and the Belair/Aberdeen/Fallston/Edgewood "metro"-plex are all very very close to both of the bigger cities in Delaware. Elkridge is also very close to the Delaware beaches. With the exception of Cecil County, Md. (which has long been predominantly rural), all of these places were suburban or exburban and all had active 'Nam era teen scenes that produced alotta great records, labels, and bands

Added note for diggers who might help: Kim owned a studio with Jerry Miller, Knot Music, in Delaware. One "J Miller"
is credited on the record. Unfortunately Kim has no contact with Jerry anymore.

I went through the Wilmington DE newspaper a while back, looking for info on the Mello Souls. Here's a couple clips, one of Frank Nachod and the Matter of Tyme band, and one for the Executioners, who I wonder if they were the band on Vermilion. Also found some Spectrum Five ads
