It's been almost two years since I messaged MopTop Mike here about a 45 I found while out digging at my local record guy's house. When I got home that evening, I noted this wasn't listed in TeenBeat Mayhem. Mike said he'd never heard of the record.

I finally got a sound file uploaded after all this time.

My admittedly meager research seems to indicate these guys were from Illinois or Indiana. You'll note the name Shad Owens on the record label. Online, I found an album he recorded on the Kay Jay label with a Watseka, IL address on the cover. There's a Stan Meredith, aged 70, who lives in Oxford, IN. Watseka to Oxford is less than 40 miles. It's possible that's our guy. He would have been around 17 at the time this was recorded.

If anyone has any other info, I'd really appreciate it. I think it's a pretty good record. Soundcloud link below.

I'm going to do and article on the band in an upcoming UGLY THINGS. I've talked to Stan and Frank the bass player, and will be talking to Steve the keyboardist soon. Still looking for the drummer. Shad Owens owned the label and he died about 4 years ago. The songs were recorded in Chicago. More when the article comes out...

Thanks, I'm glad to see that you've tracked these guys down. Not sure how easy the record is to find but I was fairly stunned when I heard it and it wasn't listed in TBM. Looking forward to the Ugly Things article.

A friend of mine in Cincinnati found a really hacked copy and it was good to hear yours with nice sound.
