I've noticed alotta chatter about 70's punk around here lately which got me to thinking of the bizarre 'Gynt On The Rocks' album by Boundstone School. Yep, that's right, a punk school project album based on a school musical production actually recorded in the UK in 1978 created and produced by 200 teens from West Sussex, some local musicians, and a high school drama teacher who had a close friendship with Vivenne Westwood (she was famous/infamous for running London's legendary punk fashion shop Sex; nowadays she's a zillionaire fashion designer)
I work as a freelance writer and I'm in the process of completing a writing assignment about 'Gynt On The Rocks'. I've managed to get some amazing recollections on the production from most of its major players, but unfortunately only one cut from the 'Gynt' album can be found on the net. The same cut is also the only tune from the record that's been reissued (via two bootleg 70's punk comps which are nearly as rare as the 'Gynt' album). The l.p. is especially mega rare in the US (where i'm from) and i regularly have to count pennies before preparing to order a pizza, so forking over a couple hundred bucks for an original copy of this record isnt an option.
The l.p. is so rare that even the folks i've talked to who helped stage the production don't have copies.
If anyone here might have a copy of this record and would be willing to rip it on to cdr or as a wav file, or up on to a private soundcloud profile i'd be willing to pay a few bucks for that. If you can help please DM here if you get a minute (and to ye wise ver benevolent admins, i realize this is pretty far off topic for the forum, so this message will be the first and last time i bug anyone here about this, ha).
I'm no bootlegger, i dont even have a youtube channel of my own, so i will not try to sell/profit from whatever non-physical or cdr copy of 'Gynt On The Rocks' i could get. I just really need to hear the whole record in order to write a more accurate piece about it
If you're unfamiliar with 'Gynt On The Rocks', here's a cut from it - this is definitely NOT typical 'High School Musical' fare, it's not even in the "incredibly strange"/novelty zone, just tuff/highly original/organ driven teen rock that sounds way more raw than alotta better known late 70's punk records:
