Still looking for those elusive G100 tunes...(groan...not this guy again...) :)

Very awesome, indeed! Brings me right back to the good ole Garagepunk.com days when every day could be a flac day :)
Speaking of which: you don't happen to have flac versions of these lying around? I don't want to sound greedy, but it can't hurt asking, right? ;)

I've been listening to these tunes all day at work including the Delerium tune. That one is way cool,so thanks for posting it,Boss Hoss, thanks MTM for finding it,and thanks Swyne for suggesting it.
This is quite a bunch of neat songs!

The Greg Barr "Another Boy" sounds like it should have been used for the opening credits of some 60's spy movie. Interesting that it recieved so much studio production with all the back up musicians. I REALLY enjoyed hearing the Denise b-side "Chaos". Maybe it's my ear but it sounds like a different take. Without the vocal present you can really hone in on what the band is doing. The a side to me sounds a bit tighter. Both sides kick ass though!
How many copies of the Denise single are thought to exist?

I'm gonna do it Bård (finally figured out how to do that little circle!)...but I don't want to raise expectations that everything I post will be immediately available as FLACS, or cleaned up etc. I need a certain amount of spare time for that, and these days it's hard to find. Most likely I will post various mp3s which are quick 'n' easy, then once a month upload the FLACS in a separate post.

That sounds like a great idea, Mark - thanks a lot!
And the problem with lack of spare time is something I know all too well.

There's at least 4, and maybe 5. One of the copies is supposedly a different version, with a red label. I have not seen it, just heard about it. Maybe MTM knows more about the validity of this?

There is one known copy of the DENISE 45 with a red label. This is the copy dubbed for release on Ace's UPTIGHT TONIGHT comp and the ACE OF CUPS CD. The Yellow label was the 1st press, Denise didn't like the results so they repressed it with a RED label which has much better sound and new vocals. So every version most of you have heard is from the superior RED label version. If you're one of the few lucky yellow label owners, well...start saving your sheckles for the much rarer and much superior version. The B side (Instro version of the A side) is the same version and mix on both versions. The master tapes were burned in a Oakland Hills fire in the 80's.

Forgive my ignorance here, but what are the virtues of FLAC files? I'm not very well versed on this sort of thing.
lnteresting info on the Denise single... I was under the impression only 1 or 2 of these existed.

The Denise 45 should be out on a exact repro 45 next year from Ace. With the red label;)

I have a strong feeling I will end up owning a red label version of this in the future by pure happenstance as I've ended up with other very elusive 45s this way in the past. This is a very good feeling. I am at peace now.

It might even qualify for the most sacred spot any 45 could ever hope to achieve: THE AVATAR!

sure...exactly like the cd:lol:
Haha!
While that's funny, it's not exactly true either. As you know, When a cd is used to remaster a 45, there is a ton of electronic and mechanical devices including the playback machine, cables, D/A converters, amplifiers, cutting head, disc stamping processes...etc... which all alter and distort the sound. The reissue 45 will be a non-exact repro of the CD, including added hum, noise and distortion.

It will be taken from the dat tape which was used to dub the original...Good or bad that's all there is:(

I just moved this topic here to the Secret Society, because it really belongs here. The normal total secrecy provisions don't really apply to these downloads, because they've already been available in the main forum.

Hey BossHoss,
Being a little motivated by something you said earlier:
I was wondering if I could call on your help again in a big way.
Firstly,I cannot overstress how appreciative I am for your generosity regarding the completion of my own G100 playlist. Your label scans are so nice that I was wondering if you have the following ones already posted or available (on the older site?). I forgot there were a few label scans I have never been able to find, and it would be great to upgrade a bunch that I already have, that are only about the size of a penny on my computer screen:rolleyes:or just plain rotten blurry jpegs.
I almost hesitiate to ask this as you've helped me out so much already, but I'm pretty sure that you or only a few other record specialists here would be able to help me out.So I respectfully ask that if you could, and when you have time to help me out,I would really really be grateful.
I wish there was something else I could contribute here to help someone you or else out. If I can,I certainly will!
Here's the list:  Sorry it's so long.
Thanking you and anyone else that can help in advance,
Darren

Hi Darren
I've always intended to post a database of label scans here. That means ALL '60s garage labels, from my collection and with the help of others. That's what the (not active at the moment) "wiki" section of the site is all about.
The reason for not doing it quite yet - is that many of the label scans (including virtually all the ones you list above) are part of Mike's Teenbeat Mayhem Top 1000 countdown.
So in the near future, you will have all those scans in the book, and maybe 6 months later, here at the forum with tens of thousands of others as well.
:%: Everything except the Purple Virus.

btw - FLAC files are in effect compressed WAV files. In other words, once de-compressed, they are exactly the same as WAV files or CD quality files, one hundred percent. They are on average about 10 mb instead of 20 mb for a WAV file and thus twice as fast to download. They have to be de-compressed with a free utility program which takes only a few seconds per track once you are familiar with the procedure. MP3s on the other hand are much smaller and quicker to download and don't have to be de-compressed, but they can never be restored to CD quality.
