TeenBeat Mayhem Blog

Very cool that I can share the PDF instead of loaning my book(s). Is there a plan to list unrated songs so we can continue to contribute?

Damn ! I put The Bobbies (She Put Me down) in a sort of "best of Alabama" of my own and i read that they were not from Florence, AL (confirmed in printed versions of TBM) but from Tennessee. You confirm i have to move them to an other comp ?

(thanks for the fantastic job, so glad to have this new & extended edition, so convenient !)

Many of those wrong locales of the first edition though, have not been corrected, even if I have posted them here for years.
I guess I've not given enough proof.

It seems like a few corrections from Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem were not reported in the PDF. For example, Pepper & The Shakers (Coral) were from an unknown location in the original book, then located in Westland, MI (confirmed) in Beyond TBM, then again cannot be located in the new PDF. What source do I have to follow ? Thanks a lot

a few corrections (..) were not reported
"A few"? Not many at all. I did spot ONE (James Bond & The Agents - from the suburban label locale to Tulsa)
The rules of "corrections" seems to be too strict.
What's the point of posting "corrections" here really?

Rules for corrections:
If you have proof of, say, a verified locale, please provide your source of evidence: newspaper article (publication and date)... published interview (book title, 'zine title, etc..)... direct comment from a group member posted on a website (source link, title/address)

Citing a Youtube song clip random comment, or stating that "Discogs shows..." is not sufficient.
Well, lot of my infos comes from band members posting on my Youtube-channel. (Without those I wouldn't have been able to track
"impossible" band like the Plastic Menagerie (TN) or The Weeds (San Diego - not corrected in the book BTW)

Just noticed that for the single by 13th Hour from Lawrenceville, MI the updated discography lists the B-side as "Please Tell Me" while it's "Please Be True".

Thanks... We caught this one and it will be correct when the revised pdf is ready for download

Still working on the updated 2025 A- Z pdf file for worldwide perusal. We have a few more letters to run through; we tried to have it for June but I prefer to go thru the entire listing with the help of a couple contributors undertaking line by line proofing. Their attention to detail has been incredibly helpful, and sorely needed, since my data is not sorted or stored in a database. Of course, you guys here at G45 are just as important in helping me compile a worthwhile source for '60s garage. You might find fault regarding inclusions, omissions and the consensus derived decimal ratings for your favorite songs but hopefully, you tend to agree far more often than you disagree.

That said, I have updated the TeenBeat Mayhem website with a new post: Visualizing the Song Ratings.
I can't tell you how often I get an e-mail or comment, the sender wondering why so many songs are average (5 & 6 ratings). I decided to come up with a clear example to explain the ratings devoid of dry mathematics. Check it out and let me know what you think.
